I think this all has to do with the deal that fell through between the city and the TMS. I'm not that familiar with the deal, but I believe that the Speedway is under no obligation to promote Fort Worth.

Yes, it was on ESPN. What you missed was Jeff going on a little rant about the announcers stating the TMS was in Dallas. There was little to no promotion of Fort Worth. While I was responding to his comment, he edited the whole thing and left this:

Must have been some more folks arriving to the area via DFW airport with a flight attendant saying welcome to Dallas.

I may tip the next flight attendant to say welcome to Dallas-Fort Worth. Give he or she a better tip to say welcome to Fort Worth-Dallas.

It's our fault! :D

I've gotten to the point where I don't get mad anymore, because we have so many chicken (you know what) people in Fort Worth who don't care about our identity one way or the other.

I am, in the words of K104's Chris Arnold, "tired, tired, tired!"

Okay... the reason I deleted my post was after I posted it I felt like I was overreacting. What got me flustered was when they came back from commercial break they showed the Reunion Tower ball fashing then they showed Fountain Place (also in DTD). Later they did flash "Live from Fort Woth" on the screen though   :D I didn't hear the announcer say TMS was in Dallas. :(

"Fort Worth, TX" :D

At least, Google Maps put us on their map instead of lil' d. :D

All concerned should send e-mails, faxes, etc. to Eddie Gossage, ESPN president George Bodenheimer and IRL president and CEO Brian Barnhart, voicing your displeasure. You should also contact your local Fort Worth city councilperson and ask them what are they doing to make the track an asset for Fort Worth. -_-

It's all such a hassle, but these tactics are effective.

Well, if I was a person far far away from TX and didn't know the DFW area at all, I would conclude that TMS "MUST" be a Dallas venue after the famous Reunion Tower shot, and the part of "live from Fort Worth" I would tell myself..."Hmm must be the suburb the track is at. truth hurts but thats the perception :(

Dear CJ -

We were as ticked off about this as anyone. I did not see this until I saw a tape on Sunday. The first thing I did was shoot a letter off to ESPN this morning. I encouraged them to make it up to our hometown by showing the "landscape" footage of Fort Worth when they do a Dallas Cowboys Monday night game from Texas Stadium. It's the least they can do for us all.

Thanks -

Eddie Gossage

Lear Jet 500. It is amazing to me that we're still getting pictures of
downtown Dallas come back from break. Why can't they show pictures of
downtown Fort Worth? Doesn't SMI have any influence at all in this
matter?

Jeff, sorry for the confusion over your post. I didn't intend to misquote you. The thread disappeared while I was typing my response, I couldn't remember the details of it.

Car and Driver magazine isn't helping the issue by sponsoring this http://www.precision...rg/schedule.php . The webpage shows list of cities and track venues. The last at the bottom of the list is TMS in Dallas. :(

Contact email info@precisionracing.org .

I'm making a stop at the ESPN HQ campus (Bristol, CT) in about 3 weeks. I can hand deliver all your angst and e-mail to the Pres, while I'm there visiting a friend of mine/ business/ vacation. Just send em my way, almost gaurantee that they won't shoot the messenger. :D

Include pic's of your favorite FW sites. Maybe it can be the start of something wonderful. ;)

Sending a local FW BBQ favorite out to Bristol will surely wake up all of New England. :(

Doesn't seem like the Precision Racing page is very precise.

I sent them an email info@precisionracing.org asking them to correct it and got a fatal delivery error.

Try these two, I think it will work better.
