Gdvanc in another thread explained how he came up with his user name. If you have an interesting one, we would love to hear how you came up with it. Mine is incredibly dull and very unoriginal. It is my name and because I created the Fort Worth Forum, I wanted my name here to tell who I am. Back in the first incarnation of this forum, someone else already had John Roberts, so I had to add my middle initial for it be accepted. On most other forums, I'm John R.

Almost the first day I went online...and became extremely frustrated with trying to select 'unused' usernames and passwords at every site...almost every literary reference, no matter how obscure, had been taken.
On Amazon.com, as a lark , I typed in Hipolyte, the Queen of the Amazons. Not Taken!
After that it became almost a default. Poor Hipolyte. Once the consort of Heracles and Theseus, and beloved of greek tragedians...now forgotten.
Only much later did someone point out the modern conotations of being a 'queen'.
Secure in my literary masculinity (or lazy) I persist.

360 because we take 360 degree imaging for large companies, organizations and corporations. Our primary focus is attract world wide internet attention to FORT WORTH, TEXAS as a tourist destination. "360Texas.com" as a Texas woman owned digital imaging supplier marks its 8th year in business this year 2005. Are we having fun yet? You better believe it !

However, we also have been known to do imaging work in New Mexico, Florida and Cancun Mexico.

We are just now finishing up our recent project with a Dallas advertising and marketing firm.

We use 360Texas in several internet forums located in China, Canada, Europe oh.. yes and in Texas.

When I fell in love with concrete years ago I discovered a definition in a late 1800's dictionary for concretist - "One who practices the art of concrete poetry”.

Mine's also kind of lame, it was my first AIM screen name in the 7th grade and ever since then I've used it for all my screen names. The numbers don't mean anything and contrary to popular belief, it's not intended to be an ego-boost on my part...it's simply random. smilewinkgrin.gif

Old nickname, because I am. In fair-skinned races true "redheads" account for less than 6% of the population---a rare breed and becoming rarer.

I think a first inital/last name is most boring when it doesn't even appear to spell anything. At least "suerto" looks like a word. The best I can do with mine is note that if "gh" is silent in both instances then it spells (phonetically) "use." And that's so lame I just now came up with it to participate in this thread!

fortman? I think it's pretty self-evident. I love this username, but always hacks me off when I register for a new site and it's already taken. It happens ALL THE TIME! How can that be? Is there someone else in FW using this? Or maybe Fort Wayne, etc. I really want to copyright the username...I'm honered to get it on this illustrious site!
Thanks,

Well, let's see... Andy is nickname from Andrew, after the biblical apostle of the same name.
From parentalguide.com, on of the Apostles:

Andrew (means-"manly, conqueror").
Son of: Jona (dove)-Jn 1:42; Jonah-Jn 21:15; John-NIV.
Related to: brother of Peter.
Where from: Bethsaida-Jn 1:44.
Lived in: Bethsaida and Capernaum.
Occupation: Fisherman-Mk 1:16.
Misc: Originally a disciple of John the Baptist. Brought Peter to Jesus-Jn 1:41. Andrew and Peter owned a house together-Mk 1:29.

And then Nold is an Americanized version of Noldt, first presented for inclusion in this great experiment we call the United Statesin 1754. Valentine was a Swiss mennonite immigrant:

List 219 A - compare with same number on List 219 - B and List 219 C

These 3 lists seem to be in the same order, but some of the names change

Also..."a small, brown songbird" which is somewhat descriptive.
Not particularly exciting, but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Actually, named after an American Revolution era relative, family has roots in UK / Scotland. Whilst ego surfing a while back discovered a “David Love” Store on the way down to Austin, which has been there for 100 years, it’s evidently held that name for a good number of years.

I chose to use “renamerusk” (rename Rusk St) as a way to show my desire that the memory of Thomas Jefferson Rusk be once again reinstated as the original name of Commerce Street through Downtown Fort Worth.
Rusk Street was once the name of present day Commerce Street; and the name was removed as it was felt that the intemperate establishments doing business on Commerce Street at that time dishonored and defamed the name of Thomas Jefferson Rusk. This area was euphemistically known as Hell’s Half Acre.
I like that the some of the major streets in DTFW are named in honor of significant individuals in Texas history (Houston, Throckmorton, Calhoun, Lamar).
I believe that the name Rusk should be returned to DTFW.

Mine is decidedly very lame. My first name, of course, is Norman. Although I was born and raised in Fort Worth, I presently live in Fort Davis which is why "fd" is appended to my name. Despite having lived in two "fort towns," I promise that I have never registered in any forum under any circumstances as Fortman!

Same screen name that I have had since the mid-90s (when I was a grad student living in Dallas). Came in handy when folks would pop up in chat rooms with the inevitable A/S/L stuff. At least I had the S/L out of the way!

(Not really accurate anymore, but jenifortworth and jenicoppell don't quite have the same ring to them.)

Mine comes from an observation I, and others, made while I was in Korea. The Koreans in charge of construction crews on the base always seemed to wear either red shirts or red vests and it became humorous in some conversations. Then again when your at work for lengthy periods anything can become funny, I guess.

This is scary. Some people have said I was technically challenged. I've never though so, but perhaps that's more true than I had admitted.

When I registered, I thought I was specifying "gotutex" as my user name . . . but apparently I messed up the registration, so the name I intended never show up online. Where did I go wrong? Now that the damage is done, is there a quick fix for this problem? Is it better to just stick with "G. O. Todd"?

I just joined this forum this evening, although I've been browsing on and off since moving to Fort Worth from Plano last June.

Art Cooler? Picked that name for what brought me to Fort Worth...I'm a central plant operator at the Amon Carter Museum, looking after chillers, air handlers, boilers, etc. I'm responsible for maintaining a tightly controlled indoor climate for preserving the museum's vast collection. Working in the cultural district is sweet.

I am quite pleased to be away from the Dallas side of things. My wife told me about this forum and I've found it a great way to learn more about my new home. I look forward to becoming more active on here as time allows.

Mine is short for Pseudorinelepis pellegrini of the Loricariidae family. It a sucker mouth catfish. The book I had at the time had the name misspelled.

I was needing on online name when I first got into usenet. I was looking around the room trying to figure out a unique name and the big (and very rare) catfish swam into view. I picked it and have been using it ever since. That was when a 200MHz Pentium-Pro was cutting edge technology. I also use it for my avatar everywhere.
