We just returned from a Florida Disney vacation and I was amazed at their use of projection mapping. I would love to see that used on a building in Fort Worth.

Not 100% related, but I couldn't really find a better place to put this.

This is a fun and interactive map showing all documented New Deal projects across the US.

Some really great legacy projects all around Ft Worth!

I should probably be ashamed of myself for the amount of time I've wasted exploring that map this morning.

In response to a resident’s concerns about the depiction of African-Americans in the 1936 mural on the façade of the Will Rogers Memorial Center Auditorium, the Fort Worth Art Commission is seeking comments from residents.

Attend a public meeting to discuss the murals at 6 p.m. Nov. 21 at Hazel Harvey Peace Center for Neighborhoods, 818 Missouri Ave. The meeting will be held in Room 201.

Disney is placing the statement Outdated Cultural Depictions in front of some of its older movies (ex Song of the South)

This mural is presented as originally created. It may contain outdated cultural depictions,

Will Rogers could add that statement on the plaque that describes the mural.

Not to split hairs, but they're not doing in front of Song of the South because it isn't available on the streaming platform (or anywhere else).

I think that the mural should receive designation in spite of the complexities surrounding it because it depicts and most importantly, does not glorify this part of Texas' history.

I think there is a simple and more enriching solution to counter any negativity projected by the mural.  Take the a portion of the green space near the Will Rogers Gates and create a memorial of some artistic way to the memory of this man in Fort Worth's history -

This is on the December 9 Historic & Cultural Landmarks Commission Agenda:  "The Planning and Development Department requests that the HCLC offer comment to the Fort Worth Art Commission on a recent issue regarding the historic tile murals on the frieze of the Auditorium."

Update on the tile murals,

On July 19, 2021, the Advisory Committee’s recommendation for comprehensive interpretation at the WRMC Auditorium mural

was presented to the Fort Worth Art Commission. The recommendation includes seven bronze plaques installed in the brick
pattern on the plaza in front of the Auditorium and the Coliseum: one introductory plaque and six plaques corresponding to the
six scenes viewable in each mural. Each of the six plaques features a silhouette of a specific scene on the mural with text
descriptive of the time period represented and themes explored in the imagery.
Fort Worth Public Art will re-engage with Elements of Architecture, LLC to complete layouts for the Coliseum Mural while Arts
Council staff drafts interpretive text.

I was at Will Rogers a week ago and after sundown the lights from on top the building shine down into the eyes of the people down below; the murals are not really visible. Terrible, decades old lighting scheme needing replacement.
