New Camera

I am not a great photographer like some of you on the Forum. I want to buy my first Digital SLR. I don't want to put a lot of money into one to start with.
What are your thoughts on the Cannon EOS Rebel X 10.1 MP ?

It sells for $599 at Target and my son is the manager and can get me some discounts off that price.

I know we have some good photographers on the Forum. I would like to get some feedback on buying a good digital camera that would not be too complicated to work. I currenty use a Nikon Coolpix 10mp and it takes some decent photos. I know many of you talk about the Canon Rebel Digital SLR.

Again not to expensive and not to complicated to work, but would like something more than my Coolpix.
