Precarious Position. Stop complaining about your job. Look dead center in the the photo: those two little specks halfway down the building are window washers. :o

Bruce - it must be a '0nce-Every-Six-Months' thing - here are the same guys, or at least the same operation, from last January. Ay carumba!! I think I'll keep myself anchored to my desk!

Actually I asked them to wash those windows so our pictures would look a bit better...

Big thing on Channel 8 news last night about the new Museum Tower reflecting sunlight into these peoples condos. Mostly I say, "Tough" I mean, really. They were saying that in the Morning from 10 to 11 they can hardly see out. What they didn't understand is the sun is moving in the sky all year. (Apparently) The Sun is now heading South again and the reflection will likely go away until next June. But let's say the Sun doesn't move this year. (Yes, I know it is the angle of the Earth) Should one building be concerned about it's reflection on buildings blocks away? I surely do not think so. It is a hazard to real estate. You mostly cannot control what goes on around you. (Really, it makes renting sound pretty smart)

For energy efficiency, I would guess more building will be more reflective. They have to do what they can to make the buildings more efficient. In a week like this when we are all choking on smog, it should remind us to conserve when we can. There are a few building in my view that have a white vinyl roof. (I put one on my water filter plant and lowered the temps in the factory 15°)
These white roofs ruin me... for like a few hours a few days a year. There will be more of them. There should be.

Maybe you can pull some strings and get the windows at the T&P washed! They haven't been touched since we moved in last November, and are literally too dirty to see through (almost). We need a good hard rain from the north (or a good hard rain period would be nice as well...)

We used to wash our windows in The Tower every month. When I was director I thought it was much too expensive. (At the time was about 20k per wash) Changed it to quarterly. Good enough.

At my condo here in Austin, the HOA pays for window washing but once a year. I just tell myself they are made of high end glass with a designer glaze. <_<

Me too! My knees get weak just considering it. Good photos, Ron. Looks like the same pair dangling there in the air. Your perspective is just the right complement to the view I was stuck with, as all I had with me was my 20mm wide angle lens.

Think I'll take a side job as a window washer so that I can hang off of the tower and other tall buildings taking pictures.

Dangr.dave, those are great photographs. I took some a few months back to add to the building listing at fortwortharchitecture.com, but I don't think mine came out as good as yours. I will have to review mine. I may try to duplicate your shots. It's been a while, so I can't remember exactly where I was standing.

The Fritz Lanham Federal Building recently had a lot of work done in the lobby to raise the ceiling heights, add new energy-efficient lighting and re-do the restrooms; here are some photos of the new, more modern interior that I took today:

Looked out the window and saw 4 war planes together in formation. Over LaGrave Field, one peeled off with red smoke for exhaust.
Took a shot with my wide angle lens. (The lens that was on my camera.) Was not a great shot as the lens made them look 20 miles away.Grabbed my 70-200 and took this shot after the 3 remaining planes looped Downtown. I ran for my BIG lens back in my office, but they were then gone. (I blame my wife as she won't let me keep my "Camera crap" all over the living room floor.) Would have been a fun shot with the 800.

Nice - I wonder if they are the same planes we saw taking off from Hicks Field over the weekend? I don't remember noticing the colors, but we saw 5 taking off and flying in formation - they all seemed gray though.

Pretty disappointing from our end of town - other than the finale (below), it was almost all blocked by the Tower! Although I still intend to own there when our house finally sells, it was annoying me with its bulkiness last night! :)

I thought it was a great shot, as well.

I had originally planned to go and photograph the fireworks, as well, but I rode my bicycle on the big 4th of July ride with the Fort Worth Bicycling Association. We started at Lake Weatherford and rode north toward Springtown. Afterwards, we went to a members home near Aledo and had a barbecue and pool party. I didn't leave there until late in the afternoon, and I was tired and dehydrated. I only received 4 hours sleep the night before the ride. Anyway, sitting outside most of the afternoon, had me a little dry, so I decided to stay home to recover, since I had to be back at work today.

Thanks John, Brian. Not being a scientific type, I don't normally keep up with the latest astronomy events, so imagine my excitement when I discovered that I had, through sheer luck, caught this image of ALL 4 of the Earth's suns lined up!! Yes, the 4th one is there - it's just a little faded because, as you know, it's farther away

Some day I'll learn to open the window before I go pointing the camera...

Yes, that's the Edison Exchange. When XTO restored the building, the sign and the phone number were still easily visible on the facade. So, they repainted the brick and the signs.

Thanks, y'all. To see the Exif data in Flickr, look to the immediate right of the photo for words such as, "This photo was taken on July 8, 2012 using a Nikon D7000." If you click on the words Nikon D7000 you can see all of the data.

I started out with about 80 shots, and all but 6 ended up on the 'cutting room floor', so I do have 5 more. The Tower is even more blurry than in this shot, but I can email them to you if you'd like - just send me a note or email me at rpayne@nwpipe.com

I think I know nearly half the people there.

My "daily digital" is of significantly poorer quality. I took my camera on my bike ride last night, but rode all the way (22 miles) without stopping. As I was nearing home I decided to snap a pic as I rolled through Westcreek Park.

I remember looking at that place in 2006 when it still had crap stacked to the ceiling and saw all the art deco designs everywhere and thought it would be the perfect Diner. I stop in there about once a quarter, but have never made it to any of the parties.

Visited my Nephew and his new Bride at his apartment on West 7th Street. (Firestone Apartments) Was really nice. Was raining hard. And that's really nice. (For mid-July) He and his wife both recently graduated from Texas A&M. (She is an aerospace engineer from a local "Major Defense Contractor.") Nephew John got his degree in Architecture.

So he can keep an eye on Uncle Brian.
