Sounds super cost effective.
Comparing this construction with that of the beautiful and innovative W7th arch bridge is instructive.

The bridge project? I think they closed Main about 2 weeks ago.

I guess so, I had no idea. Is the bridge supposed to span that far?The bridge project? I think they closed Main about 2 weeks ago.

That makes much more sense, thanks guys.I guess so, I had no idea. Is the bridge supposed to span that far?The bridge project? I think they closed Main about 2 weeks ago.
The road closure and detour is much farther than the bridge will be. They had to make it that way to have enough room to complete the detour onto commerce.
The bridge most likely be between 8th & 9th streets.

Does this mean that TRV is now, all but a reality? If so, P.I. will be even more attractive to Amazon with infrastructure funding allocated.

Nice. Hope Jeff Bezos can take a look at it and all of the area in person.

I wonder if it is too late to change the design of those supports so they look more like an "A" and less like a "V"?

Just to have a clear understanding of TRV, how is this organization classified?

I thought otherwise and that thought adds another angle to the Amazon sweepstakes.

Rebranding a portion of Trinity River Vision from Uptown to Panther Island has been and will continue to be a stroke of genius.
Say Panther Island and the next question is what and where. This can only mean more national attention and curiosity towards the City.

I always liked Central city and loathed the name Panther Island... after some time has passed it has definitely grown on me
I thought Panther Island was a little forced and contrived, but it's better than Uptown and it has grown on me. It's unique and has some character to it.
Panther Island has turned out to be a strategically potent brand name; whereas Uptown is being used almost everywhere to the point that, with exception of Manhattan, it does not identifies any specific city. Last count, there are 23 Uptown neighborhoods/regions in 23 U.S. cities and 6 Uptown neighborhoods/regions in 6 Canadian cities.
Yes, it is unique to Fort Worth and has enormous marketable potential.

I was driving southbound on N. Main Street today and I actually drove down the temporary roadway along N. Commerce Street and I noticed that all of the street signs in the area had been replaced with "Panther Island" street signs. I did not take a picture because I was actually having to watch for traffic. The temporary roadway is only two lane and there were cars in front and behind me. The new street signs are purple with a panther on the left side and the street name following.

I doubt it. Granger is quoted in the article saying that it will be simple and it won't be an iconic feature.

I said it ten years ago when I ran for the Water District board. When it's all said and done, the cost will be over a billion dollars. The construction is proceeding at a snails pace. Why oh why do we have a former assistant D.A. in charge of a massive public works program? I'll save the rest of my comments for the politics subforum.

High costs notwithstanding, I totally approve of economic development for this area. I'm sorry for the radiator business (as featured in the Channel 5 in Post #991) but I would rather see modern high-rise buildings, fabulous restaurants, and beautiful water-way scenery for this extension of downtown Fort Worth than those old mediocre-looking structures used by car repair shops, etc, that have populated the area.

If the end product of the TRV is a district that can compete with SA's RiverWalk.
Then, yes, the price is worth it.

In the early days the price tag was like 800 million something. I think most people knew it would go way past a billion in the end. But I for one still support this project.

Ours will have a minor league ballpark ready... it will more than compete with San Antonio.
