DFW Airport needs to be known as "Dallas-Fort Worth," even if a regional Fort Worth airport were to open.

Thousands of people fly into DFW every day, and they need to know Fort Worth co-anchors the region if we want Fort Worth to be a healthy city.

Give us three..no give us two.. or better yet one way to force airlines, travel websites or the traveling public to include Fort Worth into their psyche.   It is inconceivable and a waste of marketing dollars and time to police what businesses and the public in general perceive about the region after several generations have grown accustomed to referring North Texas as "Dallas".  Even weather is seen as "Dallas Weather".  I know that because even in San Antonio and Houston, our weather is "Dallas Weather".

Having Love Field has not diminished DFW; instead it has enhanced Dallas and given its and yes, some Fort Worth residents cheaper fares.  Only DFW believes that it is being hurt.

If an airline is scheduled from or to Fort Worth it will be recognized as a Fort Worth flight.  Now DFW flights are commonly recognized as flight from or to Dallas.

A critical step in the City's identity is to have an airport.  Dallas learned that the moment DFW opened and made a strategic move to maintain a separate and distinctive airport.  Fort Worth slept!

There's no way to "force" companies to refer to DFW as "Dallas-Fort Worth," but a loud, public marketing campaign towards these companies wouldn't hurt.

Don't know how far "Visit Fort Worth" or the Fort Worth Chamber have gone to talk to these companies, but it would be nice if they publicly marketed themselves towards these companies as much as they're marketing themselves to folks in Austin this week.

Also, attracting more companies and developers would help travel websites take notice. Yes, these websites are partially to blame for the problem (and this is a partial chicken-and-egg problem), but the Fort Worth Chamber hasn't necessarily done a good job of marketing this city as a metro anchor to companies and developers.

If Arlington can get networks to heavily mention their name in broadcasts at AT&T Stadium, there's no reason Fort Worth can't partner with American Airlines to do the same for them on flights.

That's unfortunate. At least American Airlines gives Fort Worth due credit on its website.

Fort Worth is giving American Airlines tax subsidies, so I'd think we're in a position to ask them to fix flight attendant geography errors.

EDIT: As far as websites go, I've got issues with websites like Kayak, Expedia, Orbitz, etc.

PAS,  you and I share the same goal.

However, human nature and commercialism are things that change at the speed of a glacier.  At this juncture, the horse is out of the barn. 45 years and counting of the City riding on the back of a powerful, aggressive neighboring force has place the City in an frightful dilemma.  It will be okay to break away; divorces are scary but they are hardly ever life ending.  We are there. We do not exist in the minds of millions of Americans and thousands of Texans. It breaks my heart.

It is not the job of global companies to be politically correct.  It is the job of a community to make itself relevant.  Action speaks louder than words or propaganda.

There are a number of actions that the City must take to get into the mind space of the public; one that will emphatically do so is a Fort Worth Airport that directly showcases the city to the country. AFW, FTW or NASJRB FW can do that better than an international airport 18 miles out and that showcases the towns of Grapevine, Irving, Euless and Coppell more than Fort Worth.

Spend $25,000,000 to build a 10 gate terminal and the low cost airlines will flock here to serve not only Western Tarrant County but Dallas and Denton County residents too.

... I've flown Spirit back to DFW (yes, I fly Spirit ), I wore my Fort Worth skyline shirt, and asked the attendants upon boarding if they could refer to the location as "Dallas-Fort Worth" instead of "Dallas."....The first time I did that, the attendants were willing to do so; the second time, one of the attendants told me she already does that......

Need  you or I say anymore; the thing is that human nature is what it is.  It will not change whenever there is some form of ambiguity like DFW Airport or DFW region.  With  FTW (Meacham),  there will be no ambiguity.  No longer in this case will you need to make a friendly reminder that Fort Worth is a part of the destination of the flight.

Those who have believed all along that a Fort Worth Airport was an essential part of a greater national image are now seeing a dream come true.  The eagerness for commercial airlines to serve this sub-market indicated that businesses recognized our air serve potential for sometime when even sometimes we didn't.

DFW Airport won't disappear if Meacham were to become a commercial airport.

We will still need DFW passengers to know that DFW stands for Dallas-Fort Worth.

I honestly believe that AA does the correct thing inflight.  Ground people, hurried as they typically are, frequently omit "Fort Worth" in their announcement even though the flight screen/board displays "Dallas/Fort Worth".

Other airlines not having strings with Fort Worth maybe don't emphasize Fort Worth as much.
