More Buffalo stuff:
Background - this past year, the original owner (owner since 1960) of the Buffalo Bills died. Ralph Wilson was a Detroit resident but was very loyal to Buffalo when it came to the Bills. With the sale of the team to Terry Pegula, fracking mogul and also owner of the Buffalo Sabres, plans are underway to build a new, state of the art stadium for the BIlls. With that, here is a report on
BUFFALO NFL STADIUM SITE OPTIONS ANALYSIS.
There are basically 4 sites that were shortlisted: One is in suburban Orchard Park where they would basically do what the Texas Rangers did: build the new stadium next to the old one. The other three options are in or near downtown Buffalo - near the Buffalo Sabres area (First Niagara Center), the minor league Buffalo Bisons Coca Cola Field, or a bit south of downtown in a brownfield location along the Buffalo River. My money is on one of the downtown sites; that area is white hot when it comes to development and a new stadium would be another symbol of Buffalo's rebirth.
I posted this to FortWorthArchitecture because there has been a fair amount of discussion about arenas and stadiums in the DFW area; I thought seeing what another city is doing might be of interest.
