Here's the story:
http://www.fortworth...lay.php?id=7397

I don't know a lot about the restaurant industry, but I know this: Two guys who have no experience in the restaurant industry and are starting with an essentially raw space are bound to fail. There's a breed of cannibal restaurateurs out there who feed on the remains of doomed ventures like these and open up successful eateries in their place a couple years down the road. I'm looking forward to eating in that restaurant.

First mistake...that name, Texas & Pacific Tavern and Grill, is too long. Two "ands" in the name isn't good.

I walk by this space often so I am very interested to see how this goes. I am glad that space is being put to use again. There is something very nostalgic about the train station diner. I am looking forward to it. Of course I only live a few blocks away so it will be very easy for me to check it out.

I saw one of the dudes scraping sixty year old, lead laden paint off the walls. He had a little scraper from home depot, and, in a concession to health, had opened one of the windows.

I too look forward to eating in the next restaurant, probably opened by a group from Dallas, unless an Albanian decides to open another "Pizza and Red Sauce, Now With Drugs™!" kind of place. That tends to open well here. Kosovar Krab Klaws, anyone?

In any case, while I was hanging out watching the whole spectacle, two mice fell into a bucket of cream.

I wish them all the best. It is a wonderful site and I have been very interested in that location for the past 4 years or so, just never had any information to take with me. It seems to be a manageable venue, and yes the name does kinda stink. I was gonna go with DECO Grill (thought was taken at the time) to compliment the eye catching lobby. I think it is a GREAT anchor to the TRE line. Surprised it JUST NOW got a tenant.

I REALLY HOPE they bring more than just another deli. At any rate, always happy when local product get in the restaurant game.

Dang ,I thought I had guns, that boy got some GUNS! All UFC looking. rotflmao.gif

This thing is creeping along. S.L.O.W.L.Y. But, progress is, in fact, being made. Which is more than we've had for a while.

I see a large area of the inner courtyard chained off with plants decorating the area, stainless outdoor furniture inside waiting... Also, in the little outdoor formerly-walk-up-concessions shack, there is a tap manifold with various tap handles already screwed on. Beer, baby! Logo on the door to the courtyard...

Inside? Not so much. The outdoor furniture that I mentioned, that looks like about it. Ceiling is still falling apart.

I toured the area a while back, it has a LOT of potential. Other than the Omni, things seem to move at a slower pace on that end of downtown. When I looked through the place it gave me the impression that it could be a must visit destination for those looking for a piece of Fort Worth’s historic, maybe even colorful past.

I walked through the T&P the other day and this place is now open. The old diner is not open yet and I have heard it will not open until later this year. The patio and kiosk (I guess that is what you would call it) are open. The menu right now is breakfast stuff in the morning with an assortment of hot & cold sammiches for lunch and dinner plus beers. They don't have their tv's mounted yet either. I am going to check it out tonight.

Hello ALL.

I went there for the NEW YEAR'S EVE bash. Had a BLAST!
The staff was more than cordial. Very clean patio and the lighting was kinda neat along the ceiling. Have not been there since then, but am up for a visit when I return here.

ANDY N. If you have a chance to , please stop by and check it out. I think this would be a PERFECT SPOT for you to park that rebuild you got involved with last year. Maybe rope it off and leave for many to admire, unless you want to place it back on the tracks. They seem to have the space, I did plant the seed in their minds already and they sounded like they would go for it. Anything for an attraction.

Well the suds and libations flowed well that night. Should be there for quite some time.

A: Welcome back safly. We have been missing you here in Panther City. And thanks for the heads up on the T&P action.

B: Wife and I went there to eat tonight with some good friends... Robert McKee (Lobster on Forum) and his family.

We really enjoyed this place. The actual diner is still being restored but there is great food to be had in the interior area that is open to the outside. (The interior exterior if you will.) Hip Stainless outdoor furniture and individual heaters (that really work.) Good music playing, not too loud. We all had some kind of a sandwich basket that was really outstanding. Some of my favorite kind of offerings that tasted really fresh and flavorful. It looks to be mostly a bar, but the kitchen is cook'n in the back. This place is called the T&P Tavern and Grill. We met the manager (HD Powell) who was very nice. Lobster of course convinced him to let us into the old Diner (Were Elvis sat in a booth and had pie with that fat lady and became a famous picture) Elvis asked this lady in town where he could get a good piece of pie and this lady told him and he said well let's go get us a piece.

Enjoyed being in the Diner. The manager asked that I not take pictures of the construction zone. I will take all the pics I want when it opens. (I think Fall is the opening.)

Anyway, great food and a very fun environment. (A big train would blow through now and then to remind you we were in a train station.)
Of course I have never been in one of the T&P condo's because nobody that lives there is nice enough to invite me up. (And was out of town for the town tours.) Sure wish we could have another tour as I have not been in most places. They may all recognize me as the nimrod that hangs around outside taking pictures.

Don't wait for the full diner to open. Go get a few Friends and head to the train station for a great sandwich and a good time.

Oh ya, I took a few pictures. (I am full of surprises.) Only took one flash pic so don't expect crisp shots. (didn't drag my 5 lb. cheap tripod with me, though as I think of it, I think I will take it next time... It's not like I don't need the exercise.

Festive Party Beverages are served!

Robert and fam. We all ate at the Corner Baker earlier in the day.

Unmentioned so far it seems... the patio has possibly the largest ceiling fan I've ever seen in my life.

Thanks for the heads-up and pictures.
Does anyone know what time they open for Breakfast? Specifically on Saturdays?

We have a weekly saturday Breakfast Ride and I think it could be a great place to head to-
cycling downtown on a saturday morning is great fun.

Thanks again,

A friend and I met there at noon today for lunch, but the lady in the kiosk said they are only open for breakfast until 11 and don't open back up in the afternoon until 4pm. We ended up at El Mil Tacos on Hemphill instead.

I played tour leader to a lovely young couple who just moved into town from SAN ANTONIO! The guy was actually an old buddy/teammate of mine from back in the day. They seemed VERY impressed with the TNP Condo building, the TRE availability and the new Tavern n Diner. We DID NOT stay to eat, because we were all craving a nice juicy burger to get our minds off of the heart wrenching extra innings UTSA loss to the UTA Mav's yesterday. So we headed over to BOOMER JACKS wink.gif

I certainly hope TNP gets their grill fired up plenty fast. Would have been THE SPOT lastnight.

All in all, still lookin good. Could use a nicely restored vintage train in the middle of the patio there. Anyone know where they can get their hands on one around here? Anyone. wink.gif

FWIW, we talked to Casebier a long time ago about this project and got a nosale. I got one right now that needs a home and it is already restored. If you ever talk to an interested party, I'd be happy to talk, but previous rejection indicates not likely.
