I don't know a lot about the restaurant industry, but I know this: Two guys who have no experience in the restaurant industry and are starting with an essentially raw space are bound to fail. There's a breed of cannibal restaurateurs out there who feed on the remains of doomed ventures like these and open up successful eateries in their place a couple years down the road. I'm looking forward to eating in that restaurant.

I saw one of the dudes scraping sixty year old, lead laden paint off the walls. He had a little scraper from home depot, and, in a concession to health, had opened one of the windows.
I too look forward to eating in the next restaurant, probably opened by a group from Dallas, unless an Albanian decides to open another "Pizza and Red Sauce, Now With Drugs™!" kind of place. That tends to open well here. Kosovar Krab Klaws, anyone?
In any case, while I was hanging out watching the whole spectacle, two mice fell into a bucket of cream.

I see a large area of the inner courtyard chained off with plants decorating the area, stainless outdoor furniture inside waiting... Also, in the little outdoor formerly-walk-up-concessions shack, there is a tap manifold with various tap handles already screwed on. Beer, baby! Logo on the door to the courtyard...
Inside? Not so much. The outdoor furniture that I mentioned, that looks like about it. Ceiling is still falling apart.

I went there for the NEW YEAR'S EVE bash. Had a BLAST!
The staff was more than cordial. Very clean patio and the lighting was kinda neat along the ceiling. Have not been there since then, but am up for a visit when I return here.
ANDY N. If you have a chance to , please stop by and check it out. I think this would be a PERFECT SPOT for you to park that rebuild you got involved with last year. Maybe rope it off and leave for many to admire, unless you want to place it back on the tracks. They seem to have the space, I did plant the seed in their minds already and they sounded like they would go for it. Anything for an attraction.
Well the suds and libations flowed well that night. Should be there for quite some time.

B: Wife and I went there to eat tonight with some good friends... Robert McKee (Lobster on Forum) and his family.
We really enjoyed this place. The actual diner is still being restored but there is great food to be had in the interior area that is open to the outside. (The interior exterior if you will.) Hip Stainless outdoor furniture and individual heaters (that really work.) Good music playing, not too loud. We all had some kind of a sandwich basket that was really outstanding. Some of my favorite kind of offerings that tasted really fresh and flavorful. It looks to be mostly a bar, but the kitchen is cook'n in the back. This place is called the T&P Tavern and Grill. We met the manager (HD Powell) who was very nice. Lobster of course convinced him to let us into the old Diner (Were Elvis sat in a booth and had pie with that fat lady and became a famous picture) Elvis asked this lady in town where he could get a good piece of pie and this lady told him and he said well let's go get us a piece.
Enjoyed being in the Diner. The manager asked that I not take pictures of the construction zone. I will take all the pics I want when it opens. (I think Fall is the opening.)
Anyway, great food and a very fun environment. (A big train would blow through now and then to remind you we were in a train station.)
Of course I have never been in one of the T&P condo's because nobody that lives there is nice enough to invite me up. (And was out of town for the town tours.) Sure wish we could have another tour as I have not been in most places. They may all recognize me as the nimrod that hangs around outside taking pictures.
Don't wait for the full diner to open. Go get a few Friends and head to the train station for a great sandwich and a good time.
Oh ya, I took a few pictures. (I am full of surprises.) Only took one flash pic so don't expect crisp shots. (didn't drag my 5 lb. cheap tripod with me, though as I think of it, I think I will take it next time... It's not like I don't need the exercise.
Festive Party Beverages are served!
Robert and fam. We all ate at the Corner Baker earlier in the day.

cycling downtown on a saturday morning is great fun.
Thanks again,

I certainly hope TNP gets their grill fired up plenty fast. Would have been THE SPOT lastnight.
All in all, still lookin good. Could use a nicely restored vintage train in the middle of the patio there. Anyone know where they can get their hands on one around here? Anyone.
