For those who use Canon 7d and 5d2's looks like you made a good choice. Of course, image quality is as a result 90% those who are behind the camera and look through the view finder and only 10% credited to the camera.

While on camera talk, I am about to buy another camera battery and another CF card. I figured playing it safe and getting both on Amazon. But then I read some bad reviews that said Amazon had dealers selling counterfeit batteries and did nothing about it. I was pretty shocked. I have read it from a couple of different sources now. 60-80 bucks for a 25 buck knockoff. The knockoffs work, just not as well. Also they cannot communicate with the camera.

Then I looked on E-Bay as you can frequently buy new stuff cheap on there. I read that most of their batteries are counterfeit. In addition, even E-Bay tells you that most of their memory cards are counterfeit. I don't know if this is just "Brian arrives in the Big City" or this has been going on for a while. The Camera card I am looking at is 250 bucks. What a bummer if you get a card worth 50. It still works, but is much slower. (Welcome to 2004)

Once again, I guess I need to go to Fort Worth Camera. (Or Best Buy if they have such things)

Battery for the Canon's and Canon 5dm2... Canon Batteries have a built in thermistor that prevents over charging while on the charger over night.

Knock off batteries probably do not have the thermistor and might over charge... and burn out.
If you have purchased a NON-Canon battery.. just watch the charger blinking light.. when fully charged be sure to remove it to prevent over heating issues.
Did not know about the Non Canon battery communication.

We seem to buy SanDisk cards with transfer rates (printed on card reads 15MB/s) 'write speed' that roughly match the single Megabyte image size. Our 5d is 18 MegaPixel camera.. each single Raw image is 18 to 20 megabytes depending on the lighting. So the write transfer rate from buffer to CF card is 15 mb/s and for the 5d it take about 1 to 1.5 seconds to write to the card with each shot. Bigger MegaPixel camera should use a faster write transfer cards.

Fort Worth Camera is just over on University and 7th Street.. not far from you. Arlington Camera is a bit farther away. Both shops sell both Canon and third party batteries and CF cards
