Headed out of town for East Texas for a few days - back 12 June.
Its nice to be retired - every day is a holiday !
Sounds great 360. Thought I was going to retire a few years ago and then was forced into an employment contract for a business deal. But I think about retirement every day on my way to work. I mostly wish I had more time for exercise. I would like to run/walk 5-8 miles a day.

I'd like to retire and ride my bicycle 30 miles every day! However, on a lowly architect salary, I figure I might be able to retire when I'm 150 years old.

Back. Found out after arrival = no cell phone reception, no internet - we were WAY FAR out in the country. Read many days of withdrawl symptoms replaced by miniture golf, very long walks in the woods, feeding the squirrels, bluejays and spotting deer.
Before I retired in 1999, we decided that just because a person retires does not mean that you stop meaninful day to day work. You will find out very quickly that your wifes honey-do list will be finished off in about 1 month.... now what are you going to do with the rest of your life ?
One day in 1999, I decided that Contract Negotiations were an very stressful endeavor. I removed that stress by retiring at age 56. Decided to start our own small business company - core product is panorama imaging. Advertising our product is limited to only our website. No cold calls, newspaper, magazine effort. Sort of like dropping a baited hook and line in the internet ocean. Some day someone will call us requesting a purchase order for imaging work..... if not.. thats ok too. I mean what part of retirement means "work hard" ?
Over the past 13 years or so, we have earned enough income to pay for all our camera gear and website + set aside % of earnings for annual software and hardware upgrades. And we still take our annual trips South of the Border. Its just a matter of balancing our life style with a little work now and then while having fun doing it.
When clients call or email us, they are already sold on the panorama concept, its just helping them with deciding how many panoramas they need to display their products on their website.
What works - really does work.
