I usually defend preserving existing commercial and industrial zoning as a source of jobs, but in this case: dang it'd be cool if they developed a huge transit-oriented residential complex north of this station, in the pocket bordered by 820 and Hurst Blvd.

Hopefully there is more immediately adjacent to come, but it feels odd to me to call this a "station" -- it looks more like a bus stop for trains.

There is no meaningful shelter from adverse weather, no restrooms, no place to purchase drinks or food.

It seems to me that the very first "transit-oriented development" should be the station itself.

No shelter, no restrooms, and no place to buy food or drinks describes every TRE station outside of the downtown stations, right?

Richland Hills had the 7-11 just past the parking lot.

Richland Hills had the 7-11 just past the parking lot.

And that has only been open for a little over two years.

This keeps crossing my mind too. That section is in the city of Hurst, not sure how Hurst feels about TOD but what a great site. Almost all the TOD on TRE and TEXRail is one-sided, but Trinity Lakes Station could be the central location for a larger development. (I also think a parking lot on the N. Side would be a great convenience to park-and-riders too).

How does one access this new TRE stop from Hurst Blvd?

Right now, by walking or driving to the entrance on Trinity Blvd.

I may be passing or stopping at this station on Saturday.  I'm contemplating a trip to Dallas.

Or continue on east to the Bell Helicopter Station.  (Richland Hills residents, go find your own transportation.)
