Aviation is a major part of the local economy, so this move to continue and upgrade a training program for this industry is a key investment in the future of the area. It is a rather large program with more than 900 students and classes held at the NW Campus and at a facility at Meacham Airport. The new Alliance center is far away from the mass of potential students who might like to attend. Now is the time to start planning for a regional rail line from Downtown out to the Alliance area that would give access to students and to all the workers, present and future, who live in the city but work or study at Alliance, in addition to attendees at events at the racetrack close by.
