#133630 College Sports: Big 12

Posted by renamerusk on 24 July 2021 - 11:40 AM

My sole scenario now that the Big12 has been eviscerated by the OU/UT ploy:

New Conference (Empire Conference)

North - Washington, Washington St, Oregon, Oregon St

West - California, Stanford,UCLA, USC

Central - Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Arizona St

East - Baylor, Oklahoma St, TCU, Texas Tech

The ludricrous idea that to have Texas recruits and exposure, you need the Longhorns. Ridiculous!

With the East Group in place, you get plenty of Texas/Okla exposure without the Longhorns Drama.

Is there a confirmation and if so where is it being published?  Has the SEC made any invitations official? How was A&M left out of the discussion? Ark? etc.  To say that this has been going on for months should tell you that there is secrecy among the SEC that will be hard to smooth over.

And down in Austin,Texas and elsewhere across the state, this has touched a raw nerve.

Lets wait and see if TX and Ok actually pull the trigger that will open a pandora's box

And while in Fort Worth, TCU has now instantly emerged as the favorite for a Longhorn decommit -

I predict that this is one that we will be talking about and looking at for a long time.

The problem is cowtowing to donors who we forget have their own interests to protect.  Purchasing at favorable price of a huge swath of a depressed DTFW was just as much about seeking a return on investment as it was saving FW. It is call real estate brokering.

Fort Worth now on people's radar!

Arlington is North Texas SC...crazy; who around him think of themselves as a North Texan first and foremost?

Arlington v FW will be a friendly (kick their ass) rivalry.  Attendance should be quite decent.

Right on! Nitixope..your are preaching to the Choirmaster.

Hopefully, if SSq is currently in a financial position, and who really knows, then SSq needs to really do something PDQ as it has already fallen into 2nd Place with W7/Exhibition District (Arts, Night Life) nipping at its heels.

#133504 Dallas-Fort Worth no longer a top-25 place to live (Culturemap)

Posted by renamerusk on 21 July 2021 - 11:28 PM

I can say that I am feeling a downward change in the quality of living here now.  Too many people creating too much stress upon the infrastructure (power, water, public safety, etc.)

In the direction that we are headed, look out Chicago, here we come!

About 10,000 new homes just north of FW -

There is a town out there, New Fairview???  NF and FW have some kind of an agreement which is confusing enough for me to require others on FWF to weigh in.  Here is what I found and it appears FW can and will leap frog if shown the money.  Do you think it is time to put the ETJ to a public referendum?

Who was it that said "the money is on its way".

#133501 The Image of Fort Worth

Posted by renamerusk on 21 July 2021 - 10:18 PM

So I have a question: was the show billed as a Dallas Fort Worth event because I haven't been able to uncover a single reference to D.

Was is so apparent about D is that there is very little uniquely entertaining things to do.  58 years since Nov 22nd, 1963 and people still flock to a murder scene for entertainment.  I have this to say about the tourist who traveled here from Tennessee:

1. Had he google for hotels near Dickie Arena, he might have found a room in Fort Worth or Arlington.

Caution using online booking because Dickie Arena, AT&T and GlobeLife Park are listed as Dallas Stadiums which D hotels tag and get first eyeballs.

2. Had he found a room in Fort Worth or Arlington he would have had a much more entertaining stay.  A tour of AT&T and GlobeLife Field, Six Flags, FWSY, and if zoos are his thing, FWZoo!

3. Now he knows and will be spreading the word to friends and family that Fort Worth is actually another city 40 miles and 60 mins apart from D.

So sorry for him that he had to settle for the 6th Floor Museum. Honestly if he is such an 11/22/63 enthusiast, while in FW, he could have actually visited the grave of Oswald.  Maybe that should be added to Visit Fort Worth website. :(

#133494 Who owns the "rest" of downtown?

Posted by renamerusk on 21 July 2021 - 07:10 PM

Well, I'm wishing for a grocery store in the vain of Tom Thumb Uptown Dallas; and while it is not in the old traditional part of DTD, it is considered to be since the two halves of DTD is only separated by a highway.

Would it be asking to much to have a Tom Thumb, Sprout or Aldi in the core of DTFW especially if the goal of FW is to attract more living in DTFW.  The Binyon Okeefe Building would make an ideal spot for a grocery store for people living along Samuel, Lancaster and even Henderson, and with the future development along Jones/Commerce too.

Recent conversations around the FWF has centered around "Space Tourism", Covid-19 Anti-vaxers, and Chain Eatery.

Here is Stephen Colbert's take and its checks each one of these boxes.  No wonder his show is the top rated late night show.

Nitixope, you just trigger me to look for an answer that would sum up your post and in the process I learned something.  From the internet -

What happens in the brain when we ask a question?

Reflection: When you ask a question instead of giving the answer, the entire brain gets active as it reflects, releasing serotonin (allowing it to relax). This encourages gathering intelligence from all areas of the brain, allowing for more insight than would happen if you provided solutions to others.

So to speak, there is no question that is valueless to the working of the brain even though it may cause you to some ridicule. I will say that the Brit might have tried a bit more to stay updated.

Fascinating!

Who are the "Killers?"  One thing is becoming obviously clear: FW is getting the shows that it didn't in the past.

Note: And here kids is why DA is going to be fine without the NBA or NHL.  You to get to see right in your own "Living Room" great musical acts, special events (Wrestling, gymnastics). :D

A circular driveway seems a waste of prime space.  More office and Customer Service Area given that Tarrant County is now headed for 2.5million residents.

Shouldn't there be a bus that a rider can take to and from the NS to FWSY?
