You all have probably wondered where I've been. The answer is that my right bicep was attacked by a flesh eating infection! We have heard about these things on the news but it is true. I had a small itchy place come up on the inside of my arm on Friday. I went out on a date Friday night and noticed that it was a little uncomforable, but nothing that an average mosquito bite would be hidden under a suit and a long sleeved shirt. On Saturday, it was getting redder and more inflamed, and by Sunday, my whole upper arm was swolen. I went to Harris Methodist Emergency Room and the doctors took care of me immediately. The drugs put me out all of Monday. Tuesday, I was better, but I was only awake about 1/2 of the day. I also didn't feel like getting on the computer. Today, I was much better, feeling more like myself, but I still stayed home from work. I finally got on the forum tonight for a little while and I'm back. The infection is clearing, but the drugs that I have to take are pretty rough. I missed the forum, but I did need to take care of myself.

That's incredible! I'm sorry to hear about it. I assumed you were busy working on the Horton deal...but it's good news to hear you're recovering and feeling better. The forum has indeed missed you the past few days.

That's terrible. Any idea how this bacteria got into your system? Glad to hear you're up and about again.

Is it the same staph infection that caused a scare a few years ago? I remember that ABC's Primetime Live broadcast was going to report on it, but it was pre-empted by OJ's slow speed chase. After that, the media's FLESH EATING BACTERIA story was ignored and replaced by the supposed CRIME OF THE CENTURY.

Very sorry to hear about that, John (as I subtly sidle a little farther away). :o

From what I’ve heard those things are vicious, good thing you had it checked out quickly. I’ve also read that you should take “all” the medications prescribed for it, no matter how bad they make you feel, otherwise you could inadvertently create a drug resistant strain.

Hope you get to feeling better… I’d noticed the forum seemed a bit drab and boring the last several days, good to have you back.

Yesterday, I went to my family doctor, and he seems to think it is a spider bite and then I remembered an encounter with a spider web on Thursday evening in the yard. If this is a spider bite, that is probably where I was bitten. It is still not improving very fast.

CJ, thanks. I'm doing much better now. I'm still taking antibiotics, but the bite is clearing up. I'm very thankful that I went to the emergency room before the poison had spread too far. I'm not doing much besides working normal hours. I'm anxious to start getting out and photographing buildings again.
