Ok, I'll try and start a new discussion, plus mine some memories here.

Way back when we first moved to FW (late '60s) my brother drove me by a house down around Colonial that was at the end of a dead end street. It was one of those round houses they said would be the house of the future. It was at the end of the dead end, sort of down a hill. Supposedly it had a pool underneath. The brush (?landscaping) by the street was so that you couldn't get a perfect look at it, but enough to see that it was a round house. Something sparked that brain cell the other day and I was trying to find it. It seems like it was off Colonial Parkway or something like that, but couldn't find it for the life of me. Tried using the satellite pix, but they weren't any help either. So, I know it existed; don't know where exactly but in the Colonial area. Never heard anything about it, knew who's it was or anything. Can only assume it's gone now.

I realize I'm only talking 40 years ago, but surely someone knows what the heck I'm talking about??!!

Actually, as best I remember, it was more spaceship/flying saucer shaped than geodesic. I'm 99% sure it was in the TCU/Colonial area, but it has been 40 years and I am getting older and older, and older.........

I think the house is at the end of Mockingbird Court on the south side of Colonial's golf course. I used to spend the night at a house on Mockingbird when I was in elementary school, and I seem to remember that house. I grew up on Bellaire Dr S and can't think of any other location for this house.

There was a house over the creek running behind the north end of Bellaire Dr W that a school mate of mine lived in, but it fell in and was demolished a few years back and was not round.

Could it have been the house on the cul de sac at the south end of Autumn Drive? It is not round, but it has a courtyard in the front that is enclosed on 3 sides by a very Frank Lloyd Wright inspired residence. Not a flying saucer shape, but very advanced architecture for its time, especially in that very conservative neighborhood.

Another possibility is the house built by the Alexander family on Winton Terrace West. A driveway that ran down from Winton Terrace to University (by the Rhea Engert Studio) went by the south side of this unusual home, which, if memory serves me (and frequently it does not), was square shaped and built partly on stilts with a large open space in the middle of the square, sort of like a tree house as seen from below. From Winton Terrace the house appears to be quite normal

Hey thanks for all the feedback; they both sound like possibilities. Sometimes my memory is a little off on service, too, and it has been 40 years. It was up on stilts and unusual. Hmmmmmmm - coulda sworn it was round, but maybe not. Thanks for the help tho! At least I'm not TOTALLY crazy!!

I was in the house on Autumn Drive many times growing up in the 70's. It was owned by the Brachman family. Mr. Brachman was president of my dad's company and we went there for many parties. If I remember correctly the center of the house was round with two wings. Very Wright inspired.
