This one is bittersweet for reasons I won't get into.
The proposed project looks to be a great reuse of the building and will ensure that it is reactivated, rehabilitated and preserved, hopefully for many years to come. Hillin and his team at Jacob Development have done some great work in St. Louis, and I think their approach will be a perfect fit for Fort Worth and the Near Southside (see the Bogen Lofts, www.thebogen.com). Excited for what the future holds for this part of town, and, in particular, for this building.

Nishimura has new details http://www.fwtx.com/...ort-worths-near
Eddie Vanston (same guy behind Supreme Golf, Markeen, a few others) has bought the property, altered plans.

I have to say, Scott N seems to be a really good journalist. Really like reading his stuff.
With all the changes to the print media business, I'm personally glad to see he has been around through it from FWST to FWBP and now FWTX/ FWINC magazine.

crimson builder we certainly appreciate you posting here. i noticed that magnolia park is starting to lease -- there for a while it looked like it had stalled. still keeping that name even though it's not on magnolia and may cause some confusion? personally i would pay tribute to the area and call it linwood place or linwood allee

Yeah, my partner is keeping the name Magnolia Park. All of our deals are named Magnolia because that's the name of our development company. Honestly though, most people outside of people really plugged into Fort Worth history, won't know or care. Heck, I've lived here in Fort Worth since I was 14 years old and until we purchased the property, I had never heard of Linwood.
I agree with dfwerdoc, as a relatively new resident of Linwood, several of us have said we would like to see developers give more identity to the neighborhood. Right now the zoning is very much a hodgepodge and there actually is an initiative within the neighborhood association to build on the history and traditions within the Linwood neighborhood/community. Regardless, the landscaping and aesthetics it brings to 5th st. are nice and needed. Thanks for posting here.

Went in this building about 10 days ago. Beautiful open space (I'm sure it will be divided into tenant spaces), beautiful exposed concrete structure too (columns and ceiling slab). I was told the developer is getting old, reclaimed steel windows from New Jersey to replace the aluminum framed windows on the lower 2 floors!

Austin, I kind of figured that out after reading the stories about the closing in the printed media, and seeing the reports on the local news stations.

There's some fun retail in this project. I hope it starts to morph into the S Main village more. A sortoff bodega styled concept just opened in the building.
