Walking around Downtown this morning, enjoying the closed streets as they set up for the Festival.

Nice! Great colors! This will be our 5th year of attending in some fashion, but the first as downtown residents, so we hope to spend time each day/evening enjoying the food, music, people, etc. The weekend looks to be perfect weather-wise, and we're looking forward to the "Me and My Monkey" performance Sunday at 2:00 (per their website, 2:30 per the Main Street schedule). It's a Beatles cover band - we saw them in Keller (and I think at previous Main Streets), and they are very good!

I've grown up going to the Festival, and look forward to it this year. Especially since Schmidt's from Ohio (go buckeyes!) will be there. Love Schmidt's. Get yourself a Bahama Mama or a creampuff, and you won't regret it!

Walked to Main Street from my office in Mallick tower at lunch. Great weather and the walk was quicker than expected down 5th St. I've never attended this early in the week and was pleasantly surprised that all the booths were open and stocked. Bigger crowd than I expected but still plenty of room to move, unlike Saturday and Sunday crowds. And yes, I did have a Bahama Mama at Schmidt's, just like during the Stock Show.

Phil, did you see a handsome man with a 70-200 on his camera? (at least the lens part is accurate)

I ran around Main Street this morning with my wife and another couple. Was really nice. At 11:00 AM. it was nice and light traffic. Oh. A few shots with said lens.

Brian, I hear tell that the new, copper courthouse dome has been unveiled. Time for some snaps from your perch? :)

Something from today?

Nice pictures Brian! I just posted some pics of the festival over in "Daily Digital" - maybe that post can be moved over here by somebody that knows how to do that?

I also enjoyed your photos Russ. Interesting to see some views with such a wide angle. I do not have anything that wide but would like something. (I go down to 17mm) It always surprises me what a difference between like 17mm and 14mm does. I like your shot of Razzoos on 3rd and Main best.

Your shots on the digital thread is just as good as this one or better. (anything goes there.) The problem with this thread is that in a few days nobody will see these pictures again, but the Digital Daily is scrolled through history. This thread will shrivel up after tonight, really. Not that it won't be around for years but people will not really look at it. At least until I become an astronaut or President of the United States.

Thanks Brian! I like the Razzoo's shot too.

Send us a postcard from the Oval Office!

IMO, your pictures are superior to the ones taken by the local newspaper...I'd say that they are postcard material.

^ Thanks friends, for liking my shots.

I miss the Festival today, though we do kind of like the quiet in our condo tonight. (We usually have our balcony door wide open.)
After all the bands and crowds we feel like we are living out at the farm tonight. (I hope a coyotte doesn't get my kitty cat on my balcony tonight) Funny. I bought one of those cheesy sound machines from Hammacher Schllemmer. One of the avialable sounds is nuture at night stuff, like crickets. Sure does put me out in the woods as a little boy sleeping in my $18.99 Sears pup tent.

Nice pics. I didn't get out to the Art Fest this year; somehow my weekends are full up lately.

I always enjoy volunteering for this festival.  You meet visitors and artists both of local origin and from around the country and the globe.  I particularly enjoyed chatting with a couple from Australia, they with that distinguished British-style accent.  And across from the Information Booth was a colored-glass sculpture artist from Argentina.

As was the case last year, Sunday was practically rained out.  But I suspect there were more in attendance on Friday and Saturday this year than ever before.  Anyone have the numbers?

The Star-Telegram didn't report numbers.  They mentioned that attendance was pretty light Sunday morning, but overall attendance was about average.
