I think they really scored on the location too... it looks really cool sitting near the river. Better than the Frisco one that is just on a freeway service road.
I remember someone saying In the comments section of the Star Telegram, when it was announced, that they thought this was the worst place to build this. They commented that it should have been built near Hulen Mall or SW Fort Worth.

I live basically in the Hulen area... that would be a horrible idea.

Oh, I don't know.  If they couldn't get that parcel just north of Oakmont, they could have put it practically on the shores of Lack Benbrook.  The spot they got was probably a better value though.

The lake setting is nice... kinda.

But I'd take being near downtown over anywhere in SWFW, really.

I think this location is better than putting it way down by Benbrook better deal on the land or not. This has the potential to be a draw for most visitors staying downtown. It would be quite a trek for them to get to that location.

Having it next to downtown also makes it a better location for the residents of Tarrant County with it being nearer to the geographical center of the county.

Oh, I like the location.  This is just the beginning.

There will likely be additional development along this stretch of the river making it a top recreational beach front. Riverboating and more tubing.

I totally agree. Especially with the work being done on Riverside Park.

Just across the river from Top Golf is Martin House Brewery. Across the street from there is where Enchiladas Ole is relocating. This area about to explode.

Another huge factor in the development is this area is Gateway Park, which will be a massive amenity. I suspect everything West of Beach street will really be gentrified in the coming years. Hopefully, many of the single family homes in the area can be preserved, and the industrial areas scattered throughout the area developed with new mixed-use developments. I think the city would smart to start looking into a near southsideesque design guideline for the area to really maximize the potential of the area. I'm sure there will be some pushback by longtime residents and Kelly Allen Grey, but I feel development and rising prices will happen regardless. May as well embrace it and make the most of it.

The thing about Top Golf is this:  You see it from a long way off, from many directions, just like Six Flags makes you want to stop and check it out when you see it from the freeway.  Now put in some restaurants, maybe a Putt Putt or go cart place, and you have an entertainment hub.

The article acts like he was drunk swung and missed and that is what made him fall off when in fact he was trying to be a clown after he missed and walked off the edge... natural selection at work again

I saw that yesterday. It was pretty thin on details, so it's hard to tell if the net is strong enough to keep someone from falling further than that. My wife managed to drop a club over the net to the ground below at The Colony location.

Drove by... liked what I saw.

Pretty packed midday during the work week.

I've driven by on 2 different nights, weekend and last night, and the parking has been insane looking. Cars packed into the landscaped area between the end of the driving range and 121.

Drove past today (Saturday 5/20) around 4 pm. The lot looked full, there were cars parked on both sides of the street, and a lot of people standing outside on the steps. I don't know if the people standing around had to do with capacity or the ambulance in the parking lot.

The Purina DC is just ugly and messes up part of the view of downtown from the east. Looks like it would be a great area to redevelop and feature the beautiful & historical African-American churches to the west.

Looks like I intruded on your thoughts with my thread in Miscellaneous.

Along 35W just south of TMS, someone is putting up a bunch of giant white poles in a boxy "u" shape that look just like the poles that hold up nets at TopGolf locations.

Could TopGolf be building a second Fort Worth location near the speedway? Can anyone find any info on this?

The site plan for the "North City" development at the 35W/287 split seems to have a TopGolf location in it, but the poles going up near the speedway are well north of that.

It's a Topgolf style concept but not from Topgolf themselves.
