I have a metal Tanker desk that my dad used in his business of many years, Quality Produce, here in Fort Worth. The other day I was crawling under the desk to get yet another runaway pill that attempted a quick getaway while I was filling my dads Pill tray. I looked up and I found a rolled up paper that was peaking from  a space over the file drawers. It was very brittle so I tried not to tear it up. (I'll post a picture of it if I can find how to do so)

The letter reads as follows:

February

Eighteenth
1922

The Melhuish and Company
41 Wall Street
New York City, NY

Gentlemen:

One of the F.T. men were in the office
to-day and had a talk with Mr. Haynes. Mr Haynes

was under the impression that he has gathered the
information somewhere that Melhuish and Company pur-
chased $225,000 in acreage from the Edmonds Company

I write you this information that you
may know he was here and be governed according-

ly.

                     Very Truly Yours.

It doesn't look like it was ever signed or the signature had faded away,

The initials  or letter TLE-h are in the lower left hand corner

I thought at first that my desk had somehow made it all the way from New York City at one point in life. The Melhuish company is apparently still in business today although they are now in New Jersey. They were a brokerige/law firm I think?

41 Wall Street is located directly across from The Trump Building at 40 Wall Street NYC.

Anyway.. in a search of Google Books I am led to believe that The Edmonds Company referred to in the letter was an oil refinery based here in Fort Worth that was publically traded at Melhuish and Company in 1922.  It better explains the desk ending up in my house. I am not familiar with researching things and Im not very astute at it.
Anyone know anything about The Edmonds Oil Refinery?  This has been facinating but would have been much more so if had my desk been in New York on Wall Street.

Heres a link to a picture of the letter.... No idea if anyone can see it. Havent been on this forum much.
