Totally a fan of density but truly saddened by the number of trees removed here. The parking lot trees will never get to be as big and beautiful as those that were removed.

Has anyone been by Crystal Springs on White Settlement? Dirt is turning and the site has been cleared!

This is a terribly underwhelming project. The name and the rendering leave a lot to be desired. I hope that they at least plan to reduce the freeway noise by using 2 x 6 exterior walls, upgraded insulation and windows because I see no appeal at all to live in the corner of downtown by Lancaster and the highway interchange. SMH. C'mon, do better!

I'm loving the mid-rise infill that is happening. This project along with the AC, Garden Inn (possibly dead?), the Cadillac Lofts, and Transwestern Residential are all great additions to downtown. Not to mention, they only push the remaining land values up, which means it will probably be more likely that in the future we see some more mixed use projects (fingers crossed).

Nothing like having the great view of downtown from within panther island brewery to a view of a parking garage wall.

It's called a "wrap" or a "Texas Doughnut", the garage is in the middle, wrapped by apartment units.  :smwink:

I know this is just a big box apartment but I have to say it looks good. A nice mix of textures/materials (glass, stucco, brick, composite wood), no utility lines inhibiting the growth of the street trees, and ground floor retail. Love it. MUCH better than the completely sided apartment building they are putting in next to the FW Modern Museum (yuck).

My main point was the need for more hotel rooms per building more so than building height.  If a developer purchased a wider tract (is there one available in proximity to the arena?), he/she might go with a horizontal structure with (what?) 150 rooms?

You really should read some of the posted articles on this project. The developer wasn't looking to build a large hotel to fill the need for hotel rooms. They are looking to build a niche hotel that appeals to guests that are looking for something other than the traditional, large scale hotel.

I'm excited for this project and agree this isn't about making a dent in the demand for hotel rooms. This boutique project will add more character to Fort Worth.

I really like this too but I feel like there needs to be more mixed use buildings on this side of town. With the addition of this residential project and the Broadstone, there will be an increase in need for retail/restaurant space.

Yawn...  Unfortunately it looks like every other large apartment building built in the last 5 years and the same design for several in the works.

The only good thing is that it will supply residents to S Main Village.

Was this article shared anywhere on the forum in regards to that opinion? If so, my apologies for the repost.

I will remain optimistic that this is phase 1 for the area and with its success, that future development will become more mixed-use to squeeze more profits from the area.  :D

I really hope the Shops at Chisholm Trail Ranch isn't something terribly basic. This really is a great opportunity to improve upon suburban sprawl with a little more creativity and intimacy of these kind of developments. I understand Clearfork is down the road and clearly is attracting a different clientele but it would be nice to see something of slightly better quality than a row of big boxes and pad sites for fast food.

Whoa! Why did the trees have to go along Houston?! Curb cuts for egress/ingress??

I miss Max's Wine Dive. They had great fried chicken.

I also enjoyed the Love Shack when it was open there. It had a nice minimalist feel with a great patio for the spring/summer. Hasn't been but one occupant there since them.

It seems like So7 is going to have to get another "chuy's" in the Barcadia space to increase foot traffic. Or does anyone think these vacant spaces should be for more retail?
