As some of you already know, I asked the question of where would be the best site to built a soccer specific stadium (which, by the way, wouldn't ONLY be used for MLS, but also high school/college football, concerts, and other special events) and most of you seem to go with the existing Farrington Field.
If you're a resident of this town, you know where it is and what it means to the westside of Fort Worth. But for those of you who don't, it is a historical landmark and treasure that housed the city's high school football teams and track & field events since the 30's. Pretty much, it's remained untouched as far as the stadium itself, not mentioning the basics of what we consider your average Texas city high school football stadium like aluminum bench seating, lights, artificial turf, and modern scoreboard. But the art deco stadium still has its facade that the city (especially this part of town) is known for.
Now, as far as having a stadium made primarily for a Major League Soccer in the 21st Century, having a two-sided, 73 year old high school stadium doesn't really cut it. Although the stadium's capacity is about 18-20,000, which is just about the average capacity for MLS (21,882) it would still need to be brought up-to-date in order to meet the standards of the league today.
So that's why I'm giving it "the AGC treatment",renovating the stadium pretty much the same way TCU did. Starting today...
