What ever happened to this project? Cancelled like so many others or still in the process of becoming reality?
Who knows?

Browsing the web and I stopped by Pegasus News website. There's an article about Hotel Joule in Downtown Dallas that I think Fort Worth could model this specific hotel like. I'm just a firm believer that all hotels should be dynamic and give it's guess an unforgettable experience.

That's got more rooms than last reports, which is good news. It's gonna have to be fairly vertical, especially if parking is on site. I'd bet this is over 10 floors easy.

There was a garage planned for that site and the rendering has been re-posted here on the forum recently.

The Hampton Inn right by the Austin Convention Center has 209 rooms, and is 16 floors tall.

Great points. The Raymond Group hold downtown properties that are all greater in number of floors than ten. 245-rooms + garage will probably be fairly vertical, I would think.

Here are some other examples of Hampton Inn's going up in downtowns.
Houston's, 14 floors, 168 room hampton and another 132 shared with Homewood Suites
Washington, 13 floors and 168 rooms
San Jose, unsure of room number
San Francisco- 174 rooms, 15 floors, and uses facade of existing building

It looks as if the building will be 20 stories, at least. Please remember that floor to floor heights in a hotel are lower than in an office building.

I'm just a firm believer that all hotels should provide a clean room, comfortable bed, good AC and peace & quiet.
(and as an engineer, I think of "dynamic" as a short step away from "unstable.")

Blackstone Marriott - 23 stories, 268ft and 284 rooms. BTW where is parking for the Blackstone?

The parking for the Blackstone is in the 1950's annex, just south of the tower of the hotel. This is vertical garage with a lift to transport the vehicles to the various levels. The pool is on top of this building.

You will see those lifts more often in the East Coast Cities, but I have also seen them in Chicago.

It seems as if this would have had more information come out by now, especially if construction is slated to start this fall.

A filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation indicates this hotel is scheduled to start construction in February with completion in July of 2017. It also lists the building as 8 stories with 245 guest rooms. It doesn't clarify if that is eight floors of hotel rooms on top of a multi-level parking garage, or the total number of floors in the building is eight.

Great news John, been wondering about this one. 8 floors is a good number for that part of town I think.

I'm just wondering if it is a typo. 18 floors seems more logical for a hotel of this size on a small site.

Yeah, I agree. At 245 rooms, it would mean 30 rooms per floor or there about for an 8 story structure; and that does not include support areas (dining, housekeeping, administration, parking, meeting space, etc.)

The Hyatt proposed in the cultural district is 6 stories and 250 rooms, but also a larger footprint and has a detached garage. Post #44 by Eugue from last year goes along with 8 stories, "Hampton Inn Fort Worth will be 5 stories of metal stud rooms with 3 levels of parking all above grade"
How many rooms did the Hilton Annex have? It's got 8 levels of human space and 5 levels of car space.

The hotel in the Cultural District that I think you're thinking of is supposed to have a Westin flag.
It does appear that a good number of hotel project are in the pipeline for Downtown. Hopefully the one in the Sinclair Building is really strong, well designed, and well managed. Downtown and Fort Worth as a whole really need at least one excellent hotel that is more distinctive than our meeting/convention hotels (Worthington and Omni), which aren't great for higher end leisure visitors. Doesnt have to be exceedingly luxurious, just something that is really high quality and not generic or tasteless.

I've done a bit of searching for what the hotel might look like but haven't found anything.
Here's the developers website and here's the architects. These are the guys behind the Hampton in OKC, which is an OK looking building to me. I like the on in Madison a lot as well.

Photos should be housed on the web before they are posted. You then provide the link to the picture location. In the dialog box above the text area, click on the picture icon and then you can post the link there with the proper code.

According to information revealed at the Downtown Fort Worth Inc. Annual Luncheon, construction is scheduled to start in the fall on this 245 room Hampton Inn & Suites.
Aside from John's report based on the above, and the fact that the present structure is to be demolished (yes, no tears shed by me either, Austin), there's been no news media report about this, as the latest Google search indicates. The only other info thus far comes from Forum discussions. Are we just ahead of the curve?

This is an excellent location for a hotel in DTFW, Let's hope the developers care enough for the site and work to get the most out of it. That said, the Downtown Design Review Board needs to keep on their toes and work with the architects to get the best design for that project.

I stand corrected...the sale of the property was noted in an S-T article by Sandra Baker in September 2014, with mention of a hotel project. But I couldn't read the rest of the article for lack of an on-line subscription. Someone who can read it, any further details about the project?

Ground floor includes partial garage and lobby/bar/pool common space. 2 stories of garage above ground level and remaining levels are guest rooms.

Excellent design. And a welcome addition to the southeast DT quadrant. I hope the city proceeds with its proposed 1,000-room convention center hotel project, which would be in the same neighborhood.
