Nice photos. I wasn't aware a clock was being constructed on top of the building. It looks like it's going to be really impressive. I remember coming to Dallas as a child when my father was doing business in FW. My younger sister loved (and still loves) that building. She would fantasize about moving in and making the "red castle" her home. She'll love the clock.

I've always loved this building.I dont know if its the red bricks, the gargoyles,or the cone shapes at the corners.
How many times has it been worked on in the past couple of decades?

They are actually restoring the building back to the way it was originally constructed. Like many Texas Courthouses, it had a bell/clock tower in the center of the building. It was removed in 1919 for structural reasons.

According to the building's web site, restoration has been ongoing sproradically since 1978. This last restoration project, begun in 2001 has been done in three phases. The reconstruction of the bell/clock tower is the last phase.

I am excited to see the end results. Texas has some beautiful courthouses throughout the state. Is there a historic photo of what the original courthouse looked like before being altered posted anywhere on the forum?
