Jefferson is one of the developers brand names. Almost all of their developments have Jefferson in the name. River East refers to this complex being east of the river.

I think there has been some movement to identify that general area as River East. There is already a venue on Race Street called the Post at River East. Also, my church (The Paradox) was working on a plan to have a "Paradox River East" Campus, but I think it's on hold at the moment.

The Riverside Baptist church is now proposed to be demolished by a developer who wishes to put apartments on that location at the Six Points Intersection.

I'm not sure how historic the building is, but I do know it's been in need of some extensive renovation for a while now. I was in there for an art show several months ago and there were plenty of evident issues and things that are probably far from being up to code.

I believe the sanctuary was built in 1953. Thats over 50 years old, so it has net the first criteria for designation,

The dirt has been turning for months at the site of the old Smoke Pit, and now a giant crane is in place to start going vertical on Jefferson River East. (400 units, zero retail.) This photo looks northbound across Belknap. This crane is parked roughly where the Smoke Pit was.

Here is an update on the Jefferson project, pretty much fully built out now.

That is nice how they nestled the parking structure between the two halves of the complex.

The apparent access to the trail and river is a nice amenity.  I would really like that if I lived there.

There looks to be a de facto entrance to the trail from the parking lot directly across Oakhurst Scenic, and a trailhead/paved entrance to the north, just past Race Street.  The hard part will be getting from Oakhurst Scenic up to the apartments themselves; it's a pretty steep climb.

Unfortunately, since this and most of the other developments that have come to the area have zero retail features, you'll have to drive quite a ways to find other amenities. Things like groceries and restaurants...

Fuzzy's on Race Street is gone... Covid did no favors to reaching a critical mass in Riverside anytime soon.

I think your comment about Covid could apply to any part of Fort Worth. (or any place else)

Tributary is there, Mamma Mia's is solid, Race Street Coffee rocks and you have a few other places coming in.....  plus you have a few mexican joints plus the carniceria (meat market) right at your doorstep.  What else could you ask for?  ^_^

The Jefferson is starting to wrap up. These stick framed buildings are a dime a dozen now but I think this one is turning out nice.

On another note RE: The neighborhood, it's really turning into something. I went to Race Street Rollick today (the monthly street party on Race) and it totally feels how Arts Goggle felt a few years ago when it started. Some interesting stores and restaraunts, lots of apartments. It's probably the most "Austin" feeling area in Fort Worth, just without all the tech influence.

Really?  What do you mean exactly by Austin feeling?  Is that just based on the experience today or at other times as well.  Most of the time I drive through there isn't much action or energy at all.  I try to drive by often because I live on the Northside.  I'd love for it to definitely take off.  I'm actually headng to meet a friend at Martin House as I am typing this.

I'm guessing it's the hilly area...

But honestly, I say the Near Southside (primarily MagAv) is the closest thing to Austin we have in Tarrant County, period.
