Sounds like more stuff coming to the area. City is planning a meeting to show off designs of a federally funded streetscape project along Race. Construction is likely several years away (this is Fort Worth, afterall)

I'm surprised at the lack of votes for benches. Whenever I spend time walking around any urban neighborhood, I like to sit and rest.

I guess this area is too small for that or already has benches.

I believe they're branding that area as The Riverside Arts District these days.

At some point I'd like to move out of the suburban sprawl near McCart and Sycamore School Road and into a more urban neighborhood.  This one is on my radar.  There are several others including Fairmount (which is rapidly escalating out of the price range I'm interested in), south Ryan Place (which I noticed is also inflating rather quickly), Shaw-Clarke, Meadowbrook, maybe the fringes of Arlington Heights, maybe River Oaks, etc.  I work just off I-30 on the west side, my wife works just off I-30 on  the east side.  Ideally I'd like to be about 10 miles from work and able to ride a bicycle there.

Of course I need to get my current home ready to market and it's not happening fast enough.  But someday.  Maybe.

Hopefully this won't be a detriment to the reputation of the area... Three shot in a business smack in the middle of Race St.

The article says it was motorcycle gangs.  I guess there's a trade between being artsy/subculture and attracting a more gentrified crowd.

Great news for continued urbanization of this southeast quadrant.  The urban village model for this area is particularly welcome, considering the mediocre existence of the strip commercial developments along both sides of I-35 south of I-20.

I think more murals is what River East and FW needs; in particular some parts of W. 7th and S. Main village.

 I do not think so.

The Race Street/Six Points urban neighborhood finally has its own weirdness that is its own and that this distinctiveness seems to be original and organic to it.  I think that the other urban villages should carve out for themselves their own uniqueness, thus giving the City a variety of neighborhood feelings.

Let RS6P be the mecca for weirdness in Fort Worth and the other urban villages stakeout their own character.

I could live with any of them, but I think 3 really fits the area the best. 1 and 2 are a little busy and 4 just seems like a strange fit.

I would have liked design 3 better if it was actually a 6 pointed compass-like star.... I'm not really a big fan of any of them... is there an entry 5? Lol

I think I'm leaning slightly more towards entry 1... I think the area is going for a colorful look and vibe and it fits that mantra the best for me.

Unfortunately, the design contest had no requirements regarding residency (unlike the recent bus shelter contest) so we got a design that was created by someone who lives in Arlington.

Arlington is our closest and most dependable neighbor.  What is good for Arlington is generally good for Fort Worth, and vice a versa.

Sure, but we got a design that would be at home in Phoenix or Albuquerque. Certainly doesn't say "Riverside" in any way. I would imagine there was some school-based ballot box stuffing at work here.

Arlington is a world class city with world class venues and multiple renowned major league teams. If anything, we should be be grateful that Arlington would be willing to share thier talent in our fair city.

P.S. idk how to do sarcasm font.

Nope, but it certainly says "sunny" which is Riverside and the rest of Fort Worth in a big way.

Point of Information. It's not paint. It's stained concrete. It's a permanent design.

Generationally generic. Nothing wrong with that, but if it's up to a vote these things are to be expected. Like how for years the logos for DFW and San Fran Airports looked so similar. It's not that they were designed by the same firm ( they were,) but that two groups of people, separated by half a continent, voted for the same basic designs in the same relative time period. I would have preferred # 4 for a more direct representation of Riverside, but truthfully, no harm, no foul. And # 2 could have represented area traffic patterns.

Speaking of which, I traveled last week for the first time in a while.  What's up with the new DFW Airport branding?  It's like they wanted the new logo/coloring to be as different from the old look as possible.  Not a fan of the orange.

I don't think the new one is too bad.  The old branding was unmemorable enough that I can't recall what it looked like.

Newer logo is much stronger by using a primary color in the " urgency " end of the spectrum, and by the use of a basic geometric font. ( And I don't care for it either, but still an improvement over a reworked SFO logo.)

I believe it evolved into this from the discussion on the pavement designs at the intersections.  We should stick to the topic.
