What few things I've had were good. Not enough vegetarian stuff for me to make a good assessment, though.

Well, my opinion doesn't count for the obvious reasons but I really like it so far. They've been really busy. It always makes me smile when we spend many words trying to prepare a new restaurant for the lunch crowd in Sundance. It is a stampede that you just have to survive in the beginning, but they did great.

As the sings are a bit overexposed, the restaurant on the right of Bobs Chop House is Cowtown Diner. Think I will take the Mrs. there tonight. Oh boy, the Luenser's are eating out!

The Mrs. and I did not get a chance to go to the Cowtown last night so we went tonight. We loved it. A lot. Totally first class. I admit I had never been in La Madaline or whatever it used to be so I was unprepared for how special the interior is. (we ate in an area that was would have been between two billions many years ago but now is enclosed with a huge glass roof looking up to the sky (And any tall skyscrapers in the way) I have never seen anything like it. Really special. In general my comments were. Very friendly wait staff. Plenty attentive but not too attentive. (I would rather be completely ignored than have some wait person waiting for me to take a sip out of my drink so they can fill it to the brim.) The food was very delicious. A nice and varied menu with just the right amount of choices. Prices were low to moderate. Good value for such high quality food in my opinion. (I am not a restaurant connoisseur) Had some low fat menu items. The atmosphere was best in Fort Worth, in my opinion. I state that because it was quiet. I am more interested in my guests than I am somebody else's idea of good music or stupid sports on too loud. There were plenty of people in there but you could converse without popping a vein. (Quieter than my own dinning room I think.)

I give the place an A or A+. The only point off I can think to give it is that it was just a bit dark. (I don't like bright, but just an extra lumen or two.)

Brought my camera. Did not bring my flash. (I was kicked out of two restaurants in the last week for using a flash.) I don't blame them and confess to realizing a flash is plenty rude in an evening restaurant. I learned my lesson. So I bumped my ISO up to like a half million and with my 50 1.2 took a handful of pics in the dark.

Little side-note. My wife and I visited with Tom Vandergriff there tonight. (Congressman, Commissioner, Mayor of Arlington for like 87 years, Arlington Colts Football and UTA announcer for many decades) A class act.

Cowtown Diner. I love this place. I will be back.

























Not actually diner related, I loved this hot Ford Mustang GT at the bank.

We ate in the same area. I liked the look and feel of the place and our waiter was great, but I wasn't overwhelmed by the food I got (grilled chicken). Loved the chili cheese grits though. I'm sure my son loved his frito pie, but for $12 I want more than what you would see at a ballpark. I plan to go again to re-evaluate.

I love the decor and idea of the place - but the food is absolutely awful. I had the salisbury steak there the other day and it was disgusting. Nothing but a plate of grease - felt I needed a lipitor in order to eat it. Could only get 1/2 way thru it and tossed it in the trash. I'm sure they must have something good there, but I'm not eating there again.

Too bad, LaMadeline was good to have there.

I think the food is excellent there. I would suggest everybody try it for themselves.
In addition, it is just plain a premium place to eat if you like quiet and nice... like if you are wanting to actually communicate with the person you are eating with. So even if I thought the food was only average, I would eat there.

Here's an interesting tidbit.  I visit Driss every morning for a couple of cups of coffee at Casa Blanca (8th and Throckmorton) and I had noticed that the Cowtown Diner neon sign is in the Cowtown Segway space, leaning against a wall.  I asked Driss if the Segway folks were going to refurbish the sign and he indicated that indeed they were...and they'll be changing the word "Diner" to "Segway".  So, one day, there will be a cool neon Cowtown Segway sign lit up at 8th and Throckmorton.  Now, if someone could light up the old Barber's Bookstore sign...

Dave, that sounds great!  Downtown needs not to trash its existing neon.
