That would be great. They showed it on the news last night and it looked really good. They even suggested they use the color all the time.

You are barking up the right tree Sir! Stand By.
BTW, they are working all day to get the Tower's crown "purpled out" by tonight...
It has been a 2 day challenge as the present lighting is amber. Easier to go from white to Purple than Amber to purple. We got a call from the Mayor (or maybe his office) yesterday asking us to get it in gear. Becoming a really big deal. As it should.

OK, Jeff, I went out on my mission tonight. It was really pretty alright. And a nice night in addition. I think tomorrow night will be one of the biggest nights ever for Fort Worth.

Nice photos as always, monee9696.
I should say that the wiring channels for the spotlights are like speed bumps if you're driving. They have signs posted though warning drivers about bumps in the road.

Thank You. Here are a few more items of TCU Fever from tonight.
Burnett Plaza and The Tower
I lucked into this exact shot. Lancaster Ave. apparently has not left Daylight Savings Time as the street lights were not on yet at 6:30 when I took these pics. The fact that the lights were not on yet allowed a long enough exposure to catch the purple rays. I loved it.
But then the lights came on. But that also created some nice pics. Below this.

Avenue of Light needs that much illumination all the time!

Avenue of Light needs that much illumination all the time!
Thank you.
As I was playing with the 5 second exposures and enjoying the cars coming through I was thinking it was pretty quiet. Then I realized that at 7pm 50k people were already at the TCU game...
And I agree with the illumination. I am way environmentally minded but forget about going green with the LED's and get some incandescent spotlights under these things. For a million dollar project we should just shell out 60 bucks a month to really light them until 2 AM.

Mission accepted.
I was waiting for the sun to come out today to get a balcony shot but it never happened. But as I was walking around downtown a took two shots of this new tree lacking lighting. (Seems they always wait a few days before the do the lights.) A really handsome tree.

Wish it was possible to get the word out to parents to get downtown EARLY for the Parade of Lights they have every year. Every year I see traffic backed up for what would appear to be miles and you just know almost every vehicle has kids wanting to see the parade and tree lighting.

I read you loud and clear. I have been watching each year also, and it is a real shame.
I would like to volunteer to help direct traffic. ie,. this parking garage is full, go West!

I was thinking I had a shot of last year's traffic backup for the Parade of Lights. Surely this is not what they mean by a Parade of Lights?

I will admit that last year they did make a serious effort to get people downtown early, and a good job moving them around when they got there, whomever was in charge of traffic did make a positive difference over years past.
I have wondered for events of this nature, "everyone going to the same place at the same time," why not have all roads leading to the event and event parking. Most downtown streets are one way, so HALF of them are not used when people are coming downtown, then half go unused when they're leaving, why not take half of those and change their direction coming downtown, then reverse them when it's over.

I spect your kidding, but always the day after Thanksgiving.
I do hope I have not scared people away with traffic tales. The Parade is really spectacular. It is one of few things that really drags the little boy out of me.
Traffic is only bad on the East side of downtown. Anybody willing to walk a few blocks has no traffic at all. I would probably park at EECU or some place just west of downtown. It's not like I don't need 6 blocks worth of exercise!

This year was the busiest year I've seen so far, yet traffic "appeared" to be MUCH better. The number of people on foot appeared to be at least double what it was last year.
Only thing I can complain about is that row of blue toilets, were they not there, nearly every shot would have been post card worthy.
