We love BBQ and I'm just wondering if anyone has any info on Walter Jetton or his old BBQ joints here in Fort Worth. I've looked for a reasonably-priced copy of his cookbook for my husband for years but haven't had much luck!

Were there places besides Jetton's Cafeteria where Walter Jetton offered BBQ?  Which, while I was a tot, was somewhere near Tim Love's new restaurant on the Trinity.  I remember how the the way,way former pastor of Travis Avenue Baptist Church, Dr. James Coggin, counted Walter Jetton as a friend and mentioned him in his sermons.  How I remember this, I don't know.  But I remember the references and the former cafeteria.  If it existed today, if my memory is correct, the architecture would be considered mid-century modern and quite hipster today.

The Walter Jetton's Cafeteria was across Rogers Road from Tim Love's Woodshed Smokehouse.  It was Mid-Century Modern in style.  I can't remember other places where the barbecue was served.

Jettons started on Cooper St, just about where the entrance to Medical Plaza is now.  My Grandparents lived at 1528, now a parking lot for Cooks

Walter Jetton's also occupied the old Safeway supermarket building on West Camp Bowie, near Ridglea Avenue, back in the early 1970s.  Good food.

When did the Jetton's on Rogers Road become a Colonial Cafeteria?  I remember eating there when I was a kid back in the 80s.
