A few  things going on within this block.

Kelly Capital Partners is developing the old row of buildings along S Main, with 97w Architects doing the design work.  Here's a streetview link of the building currently. The project is 1 block south of the SoMa project, also being designed by 97w, and connected to 411 S Main which is being redeveloped by

KCP has posted a few renderings on instagra

6th Ave Homes is developing a row of buildings further south on the block. Here's a more detailed page on the project.

Along Bryan Street will be the Roots Coffee house Space. Article with more info. It will add a 2nd floor to the existing building.

I drove by yesterday after a few weeks away and they are really busy all over SoMa with re-development. The stretch of buildings on this block that we are discussing here, the WA Powers building and the Locust Cidery building are all gutted and being renovated. Throw in the Bowery, the new building on Pennsylvania/S. main and a new business going in at the building near Rosedale & S. Main and it is all kinda mind-boggling.

As much as I like Melt, I kind of feel burned out on their flavor palette.  Gypsy Scoops has some excellent flavors (looking at you, "banana pudding"  :P )

On my last trip through there I had the same impression.  Great things are afoot.

Looks like a new building, but then I saw the existing building to the left...

I was wondering what they were going to do with it.

Gypsy Scoops and Red Studios have both recently opened here as well.

Although I agree with JBB- when I first heard of Coco Shrimp moving in, that was the spot everyone thought it was.  Maybe they changed their mind, or maybe everyone was wrong.

Well at one time a sign was on that space that said Coco Shrimp was coming soon... then it disappeared.  Like Austin said, maybe they are taking another space and the coming soon sign was just notifying that it was coming soon to the development.  I hope that happens because I really liked the location off of Basswood in NFW.

I noticed a couple of new retail spaces that are coming in on SoMa Village...  one is near the future Tarantula Tiki Lounge, it will be called Southside Cellar and the other is further down near 4 Sister's Vietnamese it will be called Burroughs Kitchen.. not sure what their concepts or cuisine will be, but I'm always excited for new retail / food spots.

Looks like Southside Cellar will be a beer/wine store that also has a space to hang out and have a drink. Burroughs Kitchen looks interesting as well, they describe it as old family recipes/soul food. Could be good.

I must admit, I rarely leave the Southside anymore, never go downtown and avoid the W. 7th area if possible.  But last week, I went with some neighbors to a restaurant off  S. Main and was amazed at what a lovely part of town this area is becoming. I don't hear it mentioned much, but that might be a good thing.  I thought I would give the area a shout out.  Please head down there with a few of your closest friends, just not too many.  Hopefully, the area will thrive NICELY.
