On November 10th at 5:30 PM, Historic Fort Worth, Inc. is hosting another membership tour.  This time, the tour is of Fairview, otherwise known as the Bryce House, and constructed in 1893.  It is located at 4900 Bryce Avenue.  If you are a member of Historic Fort Worth, the tour is free.  If you are not a member, the cost is $25.  Currently, the house is being restored and it is worth going to see.  It was one of the first homes built in Arlington Heights.  For more information and to make reservations, please go to:

John, I've noticed the ongoing renovation there.  And I know the Forum has a policy regarding disclosing owners/inhabitants of residential structures but I'm curious what you can tell us about the renovation/restoration and whether it will be used as a home or preserved for other uses such as Thistle Hill and the houses on Penn Street.

I had been noticing the work on the house ever since it started, as well.  I thought I could post the information here, since the house has been vacant since before the restoration started and it was used as a fundraiser for Historic Fort Worth.  We need all of our fundraisers to be well attended because of our financial situation.  We really do live up to our status - non-profit.  The owner of the house is restoring it to the best of their ability and once the project is completed, it will remain a private residence.  The owner is restoring all of the rooms to their original configuration, which means this is a four bedroom house with one bathroom.  The good news is that the carriage house was converted into a "garage apartment" without the horse stall or garage and there are two bathrooms in that building.  A doctor occupied the home at one time, and the separate building that housed his office has a bathroom as well.  Also on site, is a two car garage.  The Fairview Estate occupies four lots within the Arlington Heights Subdivision.

Here's a few updates about Fairview:

2018 FWW:

2021 76107 Magazine:

I also noticed a recent Zoning Change request for a neighborhood history museum, but not sure the exact location yet.  Will update when I find more:

"Property owner is rezoning from C Medium density to adding CUP for neighborhood history Museum."
