The April Downtown Design Review Board Meeting has a new 3 story mixed use building on their agenda.  It will be built by Ciera Bank and its location is 1501 Summit Avenue.  This is also the current location of the bank.

That's great news. I can't imagine anything new not being an improvement. That brutal, concrete, generic-1980's bank branch building is pretty bleh.

Interesting, so I guess that current one would have to go. It's pretty ugly.

I wonder the definition of "mixed use" is here.

Walk-in bank and drive-through bank and ATM! And possibly a charity car was once a month or so.

Scott Nishimura is now reporting on the project in the Business Press.  Below is a link to the article.

The DDRB approved the project yesterday.  As for the "mixed use", the third floor is planned for residential.  It looks as if the ground floor will be bank, the second floor office, and the third floor residential.

Very interesting they'd put apartments up there. I like it.

The building reminds me of the BBVA Compass Bank at 7th and Summit.

I wish I could have been down there to see some of the demolition.  I am usually in the area due to my work with Historic Fort Worth, but since we just finished our Preservation Awards last week, we are taking a breather.

Drove by yesterday, lots of bound work in progress. Noticed the old drive thru nearby has new for sale sign, assuming someone hopes to play off the redevelopment of the bank and upcoming ACH redevelopment

I drove by yesterday.  Looks like the frame of this thing is starting to go up.

This is definitely an improvement, but it is the McMansion of office buildings. It has a weird symmetry about it when you look at it from across 30 and it is adorned with a few fake balconies.

Maybe I'm being too picky. It actually looks really nice when you're driving south toward it on Summit.
