In the current edition of the Fort Worth Weekly newspaper there is a feature article on revitalization efforts in Haltom City. The title is "Brightening a 'Burb; One of Tarrant's Oldest Towns Gets a New Attitude". You can peruse the article online at http://www.fwweekly.com/ but I always enjoy reading the paper version. The article is written by reporter Jeff Prince, who has a brother who teaches school in HC, so presumably he has some inside info as to what the scoop is. I would be interested in reading forum member's comments regarding the article.

Attracting businesses and their employees and raising the median income to attract retail is key to aging dilapidated cities' revitalization efforts. Long-time Fort Worth industrial restoration company Blackmon-Mooring is moving their world-wide headquarters and operations center to Airport Freeway in Haltom City. The location offers excellent access to all points of the metropolitan area and to DFW Airport for clients and mitigation teams from B-M. Progress seems glacial, but attracting a top-notch company like Blackmon-Mooring is a big step toward reversing decay and inertia that has marked Haltom City for decades. We in Haltom City hope that other energetic, progressive companies see the advantage of location and relatively inexpensive real estate for commercial uses, and will consider locating their offices and operations here.

Haltom City's gain is Fort Worth's loss.

EDIT: I've heard of Blackmon-Mooring, but never realized they were based in Fort Worth.

Surprised nothing was on here about this. The old Haltom Theater has been bought and is undergoing a renovation and reopen soon!

I guess I'm surprised they wouldn't try retail at that site, it's huge and has nice highway frontage.

They've tried for years and just can't pull it off.
