Good news for the near southside! There is another new development in the 200 block of S Main, one block south of the Axis club but on the east side of the street. The building is the Sawyer Grocery Building built in 1909 it will be refurbished to accommodate 3 new retail units on the street level and 14 apartments on the second floor. I took a picture of the sign hanging out front : http://www.pbase.com.../image/40178661

This project is by the same folks who are involved with other southside developments, notably the Markeen Apartments and the Leuda-May Apartments. Here's their website link: http://www.homestead...es-oldbuilding/ The property is listed by a real estate company in Carrollton: http://citycentralre...ow/Default.aspx Both sites show some artist renderings of the finished product, and the work should begin later on this year.

This is great news for that area as it is the first project that is following the Axis club on S Main, and hopefully this will spur even more development in the near future as more people are drawn to the area. I especially like its close proximity to the T&P station. ;)

Here are pictures of the Sawyer Building and it's next door neighbor that are going to be restored as a part of this project. I knew this was coming, but I wasn't aware that it had been promoted on web sites and they now had a sign on the front.

That's awesome news! It sounds like a company that actually knows what it's doing (i.e. NOT Daedalus), so there's a good chance it will actually happen.
