When I walked by Saturday workers were feverishly working to transform City Streets into it's next incarnation. I was looking at the DDRB Agenda for today and they have a request for "Lone Star" signage at 425 Commerce Street. Thanks to Google maps I am inclined to believe that this is the former City Streets space. So, I did an internet search and found out that the name Lonestar in Sundance Square has been requested to be trademarked (as restaurant and bar services). Hmmmm... I wonder if this could be where ESPN The Magazine plans to set up their NEXT party for the Super Bowl? From what I understand that will be THEEE party! Has anyone else heard anything? Am I way off base (which is entirely possible).

I'm not getting my hopes up for an actual Country AND Western establishment downtown, but the name does have a nice ring to it, you'd have to admit.

...as to where the party will be there's no telling, I know if they have to worry about insurance bonding and such that place would be a nightmare with those big flights of underground cinema stairs at the entrance and since it's going to be in February the big advantage that place had was its ability to remain cool with huge crowds will be negated.

Since I'm looking at the entrance of City Streets as I type this I already have my front row tickets to the entire party so where ever that specific one winds up being held I'm set, as are my neighbors. I just hope we all make it through it in one piece.

Did anyone else think that A in Lone Star resembles a play on the Freemason's Square and Compass? I wonder if the DDRB noticed that?

Glad that spot will be occupied by something with a Texas flair on the outside. Due to its size there's not much else that place could be other than a multi-venue establishment, and by opening it to daytime events they've hedged their bets, depending of course, if they can compete with downtown hotels and the other business meeting venues.

It seems they've tried to put all the successful concepts of Sundance Square, as well as a couple spots in Dallas, all together in one location underground in an easy to control environment. You've got Pete's Dueling Piano Bar, 8.0's, Bass Hall, that business center in the old movie theater, and a couple places on Houston trying to emulate South Beach establishments.

Maybe I'm on my own here but I'm pretty much tired of places that go to so much trouble and effort just to convince me how "Texan" they are. Ok, ok, I get it. You're so very incredibly Texan. I also get that you look like a bunch of very generic venues conveniently located under one roof.

Well said!! These places are completely kitsch and depict Texas as more of a theme park than anything else.

It's kind of looking like a wrap, all right. I took this shot this evening.

Quoted for truth. This seems even more "West End"-like than City Streets, if that's possible.

So what do we think would the best use of that space?

It is the only place in town, that I know of, that has had consistently long lines to get in. Not sure why they even needed to make the change as I had not noticed a shortening of the lines. Would rather it went Country. A better crowd to me than others. And this is Fort Worth. I think a lot of people, surely out-of-towner's, expect such in our downtown. I bet it does terrifically well.

I get the impression this place is going to be about as Country as they're going to allow in Sundance Square. Any serious boot scooting will be done in the Stockyards and as anyone that knows the difference between a Tulsa and Texas two step, real Country bars require HUGE parking lots for obvious reasons. That's the main drawback Sundance Square has, half the people that come downtown don't know where to park, many leave that headache to the valets, others try to show up early by making an evening outing nearly a full day event.

What was this place called before it was City Streets? It was something like Cafe USA... Anyway in Brian's pic you can faintly see the "USA".

Thought it started life as a movie theater, if it was something before City Streets but after its theater stage, I don't know.

It was a multi-themed restaurant and it was called Cafe USA or USA Cafe.

Whew, that's a relief. I thought it said "CSA".

Walking by the new "Nite Club" on Sunday evening.

Was wanting to go in one evening and take some photos, but a friend of mine says that is kind of a No No. (Taking pics of people in a bar or club) I will refrain from taking interior shots but I can take a shot or two outside...

I have to say, I prefer the bright colors to the City Streets signage than this big, boring brown thing.

I will agree with you about the facade. At least City Streets had a little vibrancy and color on the facade. This is very boring.

Get your point and shoot camera, meet some friends there for drinks, take pics of yourselves, and post on Facebook (or Photobucket). Problem solved!

I agree with above comments - the exterior is ugly.

It isn't finished and they're doing great, which is a fairly important measure as well.

I doubt it, waiting on long lead items. That is why they gave up and painted it out to cover parties and SB obligations. "Best laid plans" you know.....

There are more pictures and videos shot in clubs in downtown Fort Worth than out and about on the street. With 5 megapixel camera phones as common as they are, I doubt you'll find a club that doesn't have pics being snapped from happy hour till closing, non stop.
