We all know that pretty much everything in this city is growing and we're seeing more coming to the core.

So which neighborhood's growth looks more promising?

It would be interesting to allow multiple votes.  My impressions (some of which may be totally incorrect):

  1. Downtown: Sundance Square- interesting to see the shift from bars to retails which is a good thing, but it seems like the retail coming in is more Nordstrom level and I'm a Target level shopper.  In other words I don't see myself buying a lot of stuff downtown.

  2. Downtown: Lancaster Corridor- there's a lot of dirt moving around but I think it will be some time before the vision is real.

  3. Downtown: Upper Westside/Summit- mostly infill I think, not sure too much new is going on besides the police building and the Trinity tower thingy.

  4. Downtown: Trinity Bluff- what's there is there; is there new stuff coming any time soon?

  5. Downtown: "Flatiron District" & ITC area- I'm not sure I would identify Flatiron along Houston with the ITC on the other side of the Convention Center, but that's just me.  As it is, though, I see it largely built out for the time being, with some longer term stuff in the works.

  6. Panther Island- another one that will be interesting but isn't imminent.

  7. The Stockyards- I see a lot of planning and talking and not too much actual work yet.

  8. West 7th & Cultural District- incremental rather than revolutionary change.  I don't see the Left Bank as a game changer, and that seems to be the biggest thing going on around there.  I'm starting to like the area though and if my wife didn't write if off as yuppieville I might consider living there.

  9. Near Southside- this is where the action is right now.  There are lots of projects going on, some just about completed, some just beginning, all will be helped by the reconstruction of Main Street.  I think the residential will come out higher than I want to pay but I'd still be interested in checking it out.  Even without that, I can see spending as much time in South Main Village as I do along Magnolia in the coming months/years.

  10. Riverside Arts District- I hope this gets somewhere.  I think Race Street is a nacent Magnolia, but hasn't really taken off yet.  I can see it happening but it may take a while to build momentum.

I'd like to nominate Clearfork as well.

I edited it to allow for multiple choice.

There are a few places I left off, which were mainly the other Urban Villages, because I didn't think I would have room to name them all. That's why I put down 'Other' as a choice. I would have included Alliance and SWFW (around the Chisholm Trail Parkway), but those aren't really "urban".

SWFW, aka Jungusville.  It'll be Frisco before we know it.

If that means we get an MLS team and a new headquarters for a major professional sports team out of it, then I'm all in.

Seems like the Southside is the biggest draw.
