Whoa! A local real estate development company just bought the Ashton Hotel. I hope this is a good thing. The Ashton is my favorite hotel in the FW/D amalgam. Story below:

Article in the FWST today. It sounds like the new owners have a real respect for the property, and plans for it involve a simply a good sprucing up. Plasma TVs, new carpet & furniture, etc.
What do you suppose the Gandys are going to do now? Maybe they'll do another property.

Shirlee mentioned in the article that they were going to spend more time with Ashton Depot. Don't know if that means more effort filling it with events, new plans, or what... I was trying to think of other properties that they should buy and renovate, but they probably own them already anyway.

The Ashton Hotel sold again. The Star-Telegram is reporting that the group who purchased the building is from Dallas.

Is this the part of the script where we're supposed to storm the hotel with pitchforks and torches?
Where can we find some kerosene?

Finally, it appears the southeast corner is similar to the southwest corner.

The red brick facade upon a nearby building really caught me eye - detail and ornamentation not held back Where is this?
And now I know -
What a gorgeous building all around!

Yes, the Ashton Hotel is similar to the Burk Burnett Building in that the back is ornamented with different colors of brick. Back in the day, that was an inexpensive way to decorate the sides of a building that didn't face the street, yet had some visibility.
