There's a new restaurant going in the old right field space behind the Home Run Porch at Choctaw.  I can't remember the name, but I've seen a few Facebook posts about it.

I really like the new park, but I still need more visits to completely process it.

So I attended a game earlier this week and I believe that gets me up to 5 total since the new stadium opened.  That's defintely more time to process and, while I don't dislike the stadium as a whole, there are a few things I'm not crazy about.

Pros:

The a/c is really nice.  I like my baseball outdoors, but it was 103 when we arrived and the climate controlled environment was nice.

The appearance of the field itself is a clean look.  There are plenty of advertisements and video boards, however they just sort of blend in better than they did in the old stadium.  I was never much of a fan of the over-powering presence of the billboards above the center field offices.

Concession quality seems to be better.  You can still get the generic ballpark fare, but there are more specialty options like Hurtado (with a huge line 30 minutes before game time).

Texas LIve is a great concept.  It's a little Disney-esque, but the atmosphere before and after games is something that was missing adjacent to the old stadium.

Cons:

I've found that p/a sound quality varies by where you sit.  I've sat directly under an overhanging deck twice and the p/a is easy to hear.  I've sat in the outfield and lower down in the 100 level where I couldn't hear a thing.

Same goes for air flow.  Under the overhanging decks is generally pretty comfortable.  Sitting lower down and in the outfield wasn't uncomfortable, but it was defintely stuffy.

Also with regard to sound, there is a din of noise from people talking and socializing (baseball is a talking sport) that just never goes away.  It probably existed in the old stadium and being outdoors absorbed the sound better.

The food may be better but the service efficiency is terrible.  The concession locations are larger and staffed by fewer cashiers.  They were churning out the food and the line was being held up by two cashiers that couldnt' keep up.

Construction to the north of the stadium makes for an unappealing walk in especially in the heat.  The old stadium itself looks abandoned and it just adds to the lack of ambiance that direction.

Been there before.  I'll be a nervous wreck until this thing is wrapped up.

Mac Engel writes that the Rangers "are not going to blow this one."

Start making plans, the Texas Rangers are going to win their first World Series

Cmon, Mac.

He is a moron and it's fairly obvious he only paid attention to the Rangers when he had to.  He's held in fairly low regard by the local baseball media.

Go Rangers!  Sounds like the parade will be Friday afternoon in the stadium area.

It still doesn't seem real.  We've come a long way from watching them get beat repeatedly while sweating to death in those metal outfield bleachers. I never really ever thought this was their year until the last few days.

I synced up the radio radio broadcast with TV for the last inning so I could hear Nadel's call.  I like that he made it sound natural and not scripted.  I still get chills listening to it 3 days later.

I'm late here in applauding the Rangers.  That last game win was sensational!  I am a little disappointed by the area reaction--not about the team's fantastic victory--but about the apparent ignoring of Fort Worth as a participant in this "Texas" sports club.  I can't get over the fact that Fort Worth, with its city limits only four miles west of Globe Life Field, is much closer to the sports action than is Dallas.  Yet, it seems the area broadcast media was more intent on interviewing Dallas fans.  And, maybe my imagination, but it seemed the area media was doing its best to lump the Rangers in with the Cowboys, Stars, and Mavericks as a "Dallas" team.  I guess we have to expect that, since Fort Worth has neither a major sports franchise nor a broadcast station.

Fort Worth does have a broadcast station... it actually has two of the region's four major TV stations.

Fort Worth is home to the area's NBC and CBS stations (though the latter has a satellite newsroom in Dallas).

Dallas is home to the area's ABC and FOX stations.

You should have read the post directly before yours that covered this:

COFW: Texas Rangers World Champions Trophy & Key To The City Presentation

https://fortworthgov...1b640396e7ab7b3

And not one, not two, but three, yes three of the four local broadcast media outlets covered it.

But, by all means, don't let that get in the way of finding the negative in one of the best stories to happen in this area in years.  Is it fun to enjoy being so unhappy all the time?
