I didn't know Cleburne had a new minor league basefall franchise until I saw an ad on TV for season tickets.  The "Cleburne Railroaders" began this year.  The commercial even boasts that Cleburne steps in where the Fort Worth Cats left off.  Congrats to Cleburne...and an embarrassment for Fort Worth.

It's been discussed on the forum.  It would be good to revive the Cats with a team int he same league; it'd make for a good rivalry.

I honestly would want the Cats to be a Double-A (maybe even Triple-A) affiliate. Just feels like it would be more stable.

BTW, John, I wouldn't call this an "embarrassment" for Fort Worth because (1.) it's not the city's fault the Cats aren't around anymore and (2.) this city had some REAL embarrassments before. This ain't one of them.

I agree that this is not a poor reflection on Fort Worth. The Cats failed because the original owner got in way over his head in real estate investment. Subsequent owners couldn't bail water out of the sinking ship fast enough. It was never a matter of a lack of support.

I would take any major league affiliation level. I went to a A-short season game in New York a few years ago and that was some of the most entertaining baseball I've watched.

Don't forget the entire league folding.

It's hard to keep sports leagues going. Even harder when it's a small, indie, minor league.
