Evidently it's going to undergo restoration to it's front facade to make it more like Johnson's original plans.

To me, the revolving door entrance/scale does not give an air of something special like a museum.

Seems like the Amon Carter gets a lot of renovations. About to close again.

That's good to know.  I wonder if the porch will still be open so that residents and visitors can still take skyline pictures.

Didn't know exactly where to put this, but the play about Amon Carter looks really interesting:

Kelvin Dilks was an incredible Geography teacher at Haltom High School until he retired a few years back. He worked with Connie Sanchez, a multi-award winning drama teacher at the same school. I had the privilege of teaching there at the same time they did. Ms Sanchez' student won so many awards for their own performances and achievements they had to build a new trophy case if I remember correctly. Kelvin was serving on the Birdville School Board last time I saw him. I didn't know he was an actor, but I am not surprised in any way; I would bet good bucks his is a dynamic performance. Dave Lieber... need we say more? The Star Telegram officially hit the dirt when they allowed him to leave... Amon would have been pissed!

I would consider journeying back to Cowtown for a theater evening to see this play... Forum trip?

For it's 4th year, the Amon Carter Part on the Porch is back, and this year it's paired with a grand re-opening as the gallery spaces will have just completed a renovation.

Saturday Sept 14 10am to 10pm, anyone else planning to attend?

Yes, I plan to attend Party on the Porch again this year. Thanks for the heads up.

Last year, as I was leaving and walking along Camp Bowie, I crossed paths with Donna and Tim Young (downtown walking tour hosts).

I'm not going to attend Party on the Porch after all. I got up early today and exerted energy on the walking/Sinclair Hotel tour. Despite taking a nap, I don't feel like going anywhere tonight.

Dylan, join the club.  I decided to stay home, as well.  I felt pretty good after the Sinclair Hotel Tour, but after I ate lunch, I got tired and decided to just relax.

I went to the Amon Carter play last night. It was really good despite featuring only one character.

It's amusing how Amon Carter forged a good relationship with President Franklin D Roosevelt, then was able to use that relationship to get what he wanted (like a bomber plant that the government announced Tulsa would get).

Fort Worth could really use an Amon Carter nowadays- someone who advocates for Fort Worth and pushes for it to have more success than other regional cities.

Dylan, you are a newsman/reporter, how about stretching out and writing a full-fledged review of the show?

If Mr. Carter was with us today, Mayor Price would not be mayor and if by some miraculous way that she was to be elected, Mr. Carter would have her recalled for "Unadulterated Regional Syndrome".

Mr. Carter is likely spinning in his grave at 1000 rpm given what is going on in Fort Worth these days.
