The document Austin found lists the Residence Inn at Houston and 8th in the planning stage, no opening date yet. 147 rooms, which I believe is new information.

In the most recent Hunden Partners convention center study was this little list ...

I still haven't heard much about the hotel.  Century Plaza is still vacant, but haven't seen any movement toward demolition.

Doesn't it make sense that the hotels are coordinating their plans and therefore waiting for the City to begin Convention Center expansion?

Yes, it does make sense to do that.  It also makes sense to get the hotels completed before the convention center expansion so that you would have already established your clientele.

I have been tipped off with some information on this project.  The location is correct.  This Residence Inn is scheduled to be built on the northeast corner of Houston & 8th.  The site is currently occupied by Century Plaza, a poorly remodeled 1903 early Fort Worth building.  It's former name was the Reynolds Cattle Company Building.  I checked the TAD website and this property was bought by a lodging developer back in June of 2015.  I have seen a rendering of the building and it looks like it will be something like 22 stories.  Go to this link to see the rendering: http://www.iconlodging.com

Here's a current photo of the building:

Now, here's an old photo showing how the building once looked from the Jack White Collection:

With apologies to John, but I had to refresh my memory--what with the latest discussion about converting the Waggoner Building at 810 Houston into a hotel.  Is this proposed high-rise hotel now dead?

As posted in another thread about the W.T. Waggoner Building, it looks like that hotel project is going to happen.  However, I have not heard anything regarding the Residence Inn.  The old Reynolds Cattle/Century Plaza building is still standing, but vacant.

Mland Lodgeing LLC filed a ROW permit for "Residence Inn 1340 SQ Ft Basement Encroachment" last month. Only weird thing is that it was at 827 N Houston. I'm assuming he N was a mistake.

Go back for a second look.  It reads 827 N. Houston.

Incidentally I walked by 8th and Houston a few hours ago to see if there's anything going on there.  There were some TX Dot street crews partitioning off a part of the street near the sidewalk on the south side of the old Century Plaza building.  I don't know if that's connected with prospective construction.  But the Residence Inn by Marriott art drawing remains on the Icon Lodging/Irving website. Also note that Patel's email is Icon Lodging, Irving.
