Ah yes, Atlanta. Some might consider it a worthless mess of sprawl and congestion, but I thought it was a great city. It has its fair share of congestion (I-85 from heading in from Charlotte was a disaster) but it's a very unique city that has plenty of urban jewels to go around. Did you happen to make it to Virginia-Highlands? Its mainly known for being a neighborhood of snazzy restaurants, but it feels like the near-Westside of Fort Worth because it's almost entirely bungalows. The older parts of Midtown are nice too, with the Fox Theater being the highlight of the historic buildings there. I liked the character of downtown, it's too bad there weren't many people out and about.

Are these pics you're digging up from the past or are they recent? I'd be interested in hearing any comments you had on Atlanta, i.e. new developments, infrastructure (were you smarta by riding MARTA? -_- ), neighborhoods, etc. Oh and of course if you have more pics, by all means post 'em!

The pics were taken on August 11 of this year. August 12 was spent (mostly ) rafting on the Catoosa River. August 13-14 were spent at Road Atlanta for High Performance Driver's Education. That's me in the driver's seat.

I have ridden MARTA's train from the airport to the north end and found it to be excellent, but this time I had driven there (for that driving activity) so I was clogging their roads. As to the Fox, I got to see the Allman Brothers and Marshall Tucker there some years ago (a big deal for fans of Southern Rock). But next visit I'll have to check on those neighborhoods. I agree, though, Johnny, Atlanta is a great city.

Did you mean the Coosa? It connects to the Tallapoosa...not to be confused with the Chatahochee...I just cannot place the Catoosa?

Yeah, my mistake on the river name: Chattooga. Went with Southeastern Expeditions.
River

Ridin' shotgun at the track was Walt, my instructor for the weekend. He might be Napolean's stunt double, but we didn't discuss show biz so I can't say for sure.

Nice job with the Atlanta photos! My favorite was the first one.

That place is pretty much my home town. I'll be going back to it in a few days, so I might you guys some pics back, too.
