This place is currently vacant. I have no initial opinion on this announcement. Outside of the fact they we need Sales Tax revenue in the City and increased assessments in PID 1
The patrons will be primarily parking in my garage as this business is essentialy the first floor of The Tower parking garage. Again... business good.

Where exactly is the Tower's garage?

After sleeping on the news, I am mostly happy with the announcment. As everything, it all depends on the execution. I do think big empty spaces are a real downer in a downtown area. This may help bridge Downtown and areas to the West.

I heard that Rick's Cabaret International Inc. is on the NASDAQ index as RICK.
This company has money so maybe we will see celebs here more times than not, imo.

Just below, the subtitle stated "...- but no topless women"
It sounds like it will be a Dallas style d-bag velvet rope club

You guys do know that exclusive, velvet rope clubs didn't get their start in and are not unique to Dallas, right?
Dallas was an example...
But, we really don't get out much

I've warmed up to the idea, probably quicker than most since I don't live on that side of the building.
I get the impression they're going for a Cool River / meat market concept, that's my guess anyway. The problem EVERY club downtown has run into that's tried this concept is the place becomes a private fraternity for those that work there often turning away patrons with wads of cash to burn.
They'll need to employ rules that limit those that work there from utilizing / monopolizing the facilities for their buddies or the concept will run the same course as all the others downtown. It works just alike a casino or hotel, both of which I've worked in, you're caught in any section deemed off limits out of uniform and your fired, comp drinks to the same set of people night after night and you're fired. I'm guessing "Rick's" has encountered and addressed these issues or they'd not be a profitable publicly traded entity. Unlike the always crowded downtown clubs hemorrhaging cash wondering where the money went. I hear some have installed cameras behind the bar to help stem the blood letting. You'd think that would be the norm today.
Overall I think the concept has a chance in that location for one reason alone: They're publicly traded and have deep pockets so they can stick it out long enough to move the boundary ANCHOR of Sundance Square beyond Taylor street. Something no one has been able to do, yet.

I had no idea Rick's had so many venues in Fort Worth... http://www.ricks.com/
From what I've read to date, I think they're going for a nicer version of Cool River in Irving, guess we'll see. I hope they can make it work, someone needs to break the west of Taylor street curse.

I hope it does well. That little storefront is pretty cool, and is kinda on the edge of Fort Worth's walkable core.
Hope that garage gets more ground level retail sooner than later.

Hey look! An interesting business. A boxing club is a cool thing to have. Will be neat watching people train while walking past.

The article said that the Grotto building was sold to a large food and beverage provider and that the building would be demolished for new construction.
Any rumors on who the buyer is ?
