FW could learn some things from Dallas when it comes to parks. Most of DTFW's parks are super dull.

-General Worth Square. A nice park, maybe the best, the JFK memorial is interesting and provides a nice draw, nice shady trees as well. I hope that it is soon given a "Sundance" makeover where it will take over main street and be pedestrian only. It's location also means it's usually got visitors and other activity.

-Hyde Park. Better than the parking lots it was a few years back. Some nice spots for office workers to have lunch, the panther statue is a nice draw, some nice open grass that I've seen a rare game of frisbee or something on. Overall a bit bland but perhaps more due to the surroundings.

-Burnett Park. As the biggest in downtown and recently redesigned it should be nice, but kinda is dead. Again, it's really hurt by it's surroundings, or more to the point, the massive skyscraper on one end. Usually has a few people hanging out.

-Paddock Park. A mess. Hard to fix up nicely, bad location and surrounded by fast moving roads. Nice view though.

-Haynes Memorial Triangle. Some trees and grass, a broken fountain, fallen apart sidewaks, and a great monument to a hero. Occasionally see a T&P resident walking a dog or something. Hopefully will see some improvements as Lancaster momentum builds.

-Heritage Park (talking about the treed area outside the actual construction) is nice and a great getaway, very natural and fun place to be. Hopefully more so when the Halprin structure gets underway)

-Water Gardens. A+ perfection.

I think Heritage and the Water Gardens are two of the best and most unique parks in the country, there's not a whole lot like either one of them. Obviously, Heritage needs work, but it seems to be happening. But outside of those, FW parks could use work.

Klyde Warren is hard to compare due to it's size and unique location, but DTD parks like Main Street Garden and Belo Garden also offer some nice things that I think FW could implement. (Please don't think I'm comparing FW to D here, just using it as an example)

Part of the reason Burnett Park is so dull is the lack of amenities. It could benefit from a giant chess board, putting green, or simply places to sit down.

Also, Burnett Park's lawn is interrupted by too many sidewalks crossing through it, which limits what you can do on it.

Based on current plans, it looks like Dallas' Harwood Park will be a nice park with lots of amenities.

Probably by design!
