Idk, Magnolia seems more fit for standard brick structures but a lot of the developments recently have been very cutting edge and colorful.

Austin, parts of Magnolia are located within the Fairmount Historic District, so the neighborhood's design guidelines and standards would apply for any of the new construction that falls within the district. That explains the use of more masonry and less cutting edge design.

"Radical designs" would fit best on MagAv and Race.
This is proposed for Magnolia
That's what "MagAv" means.
Yes I knew what you meant... You said it would be better for MagAv and I was mentioning that it was going to be on Magnolia or MagAv as you have coined it. LOL
I’ve heard several younger folks calling it West Mag

Thanks for the post, but beyond it being a Southside development; it is more an "Art and Entertainment" thread story.

I'm sure someone will renovate and move into their building soon. The area is up and coming. The new streetscape has really improved things.

Sad to see Lone Star Banners has moved. Thier flags were an icon of S Main.

Not sure where else to post this, but I was wondering if anyone knows what's going on with the rail lines on the southside? I noticed there seems to be a lot of rail construction/maintenance equipment along the tracks between Berry and Biddison (the tracks that run through South Hemphill Heights). Any idea what's going on?
Sign says Haltom City.
Rats.
I suppose that will open up another location along S Main for gentrified splendor.

What are you questioning? There are two separate posts that were automerged (if that helps to clarify).

"Victory Forest project stopped after subcontractors claim payments are due from prime contractor"
http://fortworthtexa...-Forest-update/
Per Ann Zadeh at our neighborhood meeting on 3/23/17:
- The original contract was terminated mid-march.
- On March 24, the city attorney and bond company met at the site to estimate the remaining construction.
- Parks and Community Services is ready to move ahead with programs as soon as construction is complete. The director of Victory Forest Center was also in attendance.
Victory Forest is soft open and has a grand opening March 3rd. Looks like a lovely facility for the community.

I went to the grand opening of the Victory Forest Community Center this morning. I saw PeopleAreStrange there. He is actually in the photo from this site's Facebook page. This will be a great asset for the community and it is long overdue. The location is at 3427 Hemphill St., which is at the northeast corner of W. Biddison and Hemphill.

I'm about to start editing ceremonial speeches and a news package with the footage I recorded.
Will be posting a video or two next week.

Still trying to figure out how to reduce shakiness on the full-length speeches I recorded (didn't use a tripod).
The Warp Stabilizer feature works great for short clips (I used it on a few clips), but if I try to stabilize full-length speeches, there are certain points where it dramatically distorts everything.
EDIT: Will definitely check out a tripod to record the upcoming tower implosion! Will be awkward to bring one onto a bus, though.

wI've been really disappointed that a auto parts and dollar general with big ol parking lots out front where built down there. It's on one of the busiest bus routes in town and a potential future BRT route. Ought to be a little denser/more street oriented.
Who knows, maybe that could be replaced as the rest of the near south gets more developed that they start moving south.

This is what happens with the city allows good development in a handful of designated areas - the Urban Villages - and then lets business-as-usual continue everywhere else, even when the surrounding context isn't that different from the urban villages and walkable development would be entirely appropriate. (Also like 8th Avenue down around Cantey.)

Magnolia Prop Co is planning another development, this time on Stanley Ave, east of the road, west of railroad track and S of Cantey. The existing warehouse is being torn down.

Considering it took nearly two years just to replace some pipes and repave Main street, I completely understand their fear.

The South Main project was a lot more than just "moving some pipes and repaving" the street. There was extensive redesign and reconstruction of the sidewalks and crossings, the installation of tons of street trees and lights where none existed previously, a lot of underground utility work (some of which was unexpected and partly responsible for the timeframe), far more than just a simple repaving - the road bed was upgraded to support streetcar tracks, for just one example.
The surrounding streets are often in terrible shape and need to be improved, and deserve pedestrian upgrades as well.

Here's a correction. The Bearded Lady is not moving into the old main building of ABC/Lone Star Flag Co. The address of the old flag company is 212 S. Main. The Bearded Lady is moving into a newer flag company warehouse at 300 S. Main, which is across W. Daggett Ave. The application to serve alcoholic beverages is already placed on the building with the Bearded Lady name of the establishment.

One thing I liked about the location on Magnolia is that the old house had character, and you couldn't beat the patio on Magnolia. Since I don't have a picture of the non-descript concrete tilt-wall building, here's a link to Google Maps Street View where you can take a look at the building. The building has a sign that says "ABC Flag Manufacturing Co. 300 S. Main" on it.

I couldn't find a place to put this, so I just decided to lump it in with the Southside Developments. The Fort Worth Business Press has an interesting article on Mike Brennan, the new President of Near Southside, Inc. He has come full circle.

The key place, the convenience store near Upper 90 and a few other out-dated buildings are probably going on the chopping block soon.

I kinda thought something would happen to this building as well as a few others that don’t fit the hoity-toity vibe that is Magnolia Ave.

I hope not, that was the corner store for years

I'm not sure the building King Tut is in is like those other buildings. King Tut has that Fairmount style.

I'm a little confused by it. The building has two addresses, and the owner on the listing and TAD don't match up.
I'm a bit more confused than that; when razed, what could replace it that would be better; it seems perfectly fitting for the current street scape?
