I seem to recall someone mentioning that they fly west to run drills and then fly back. Can someone remind me if these are drop zone drills or what type of drills they would run and how far west, like Mineral Wells or further?Looks like C-130s. Makes sense given the direction of the photo.
Nice article: https://fortworthbus...h-for-aircraft/
I like to revisit this from The Skies thread noting the (solar azimuth?) now shows the sun setting south of west, we have got to be near 250-degrees by now.

I went to the first Fall Fest at Pioneer's Rest Cemetery this afternoon. I didn't take very many pictures out of respect to our lost pioneers. In the spring, I took a photograph of the gates, and today I took a photograph of General Edward Tarrant's tombstone.

Both of those signs are new. The new all capital letters Sheraton sign replaced the older upper and lower case Sheraton signs that were on the buildings. The Sheraton signs were replaced as they upgraded each facade on their buildings. I had not seen the Guaranty Bank sign until tonight. However, I was Downtown today for the DDRB Hearing.

I spent the weekend in downtown Dallas. The area had an interesting look and vibe - in a good way. I didn't take my fun camera, but I took the below pictures of the Statler hotel from my hotel, and a view from the terrace of the Dallas Museum of Art, with my phone:
I'd like to go back and take my fun camera. Lots of photo ops in downtown Big D.

Austin, you were really out and about on Saturday. I have been working this weekend, so that's why I haven't been posting as much.

Deco 969 ought to pay you to use this shot in their media and ads. Really excellent shot!

Back in 2013 we took a panorama of the JFK Memorial. Its an interactive 360° spherical image . Means you can mouse click drag [full up/ down/ left/ right: use your mouse wheel to zoom in / out] on the image an view the entire circular plaza area.
Image was take with our Canon 5D with a full circle 8mm f2.0 spherical fisheye lens. Took 4 images at 90° and stitched them together with special PTgui software.
Enjoy

This is a phone pic, but it was a spectacular moonrise over the I35/I30 flyover this past week.
Sidebar: the preacher at the church I attend used flyovers as an illustration in his sermon last Sunday. He described driving on flyovers all the time, and while he's never hit a guardrail, he's glad they are there. He went on to apply that to his sermon topic, but the mind picture of flyovers without guardrails has scarily percolated in my head all week.

Thank you John for leading the downtown walking touring and giving us the history of Fort Worth's historic banks. It was terrific. I often notice on my downtown walks, when looking up, you can see the interesting types and time periods of downtown architecture juxtaposed with each other in a single view. I took some photos this morning to illustrate:

You're welcome, Ramjet. I enjoyed giving the tour. We had a good group.
I agree with you about the juxtaposition of architectural styles when looking up. You took some very nice photos today.

The river looks great. I see you caught some of the wildflowers in bloom. Did you see any blue bonnets? A little further to the southwest, they used to grow along the trail. However, with the construction of the widening of the trail down that way, they may have been disturbed.

I saw a few patches of blue bonnets growing along the riverbank.
