A frequent topic on here is trying to shrink the government influence in downtown in order to get more private investment and grow the tax base. 

Here is a map to help visualize some of what governments control, sorted by level. Churches are also included since they are predominant landowners and don't pay property taxes.  Let me know if you notice any incorrect or missing areas.

I did not include TRWD ownership as there is a lot of it, but basically, anything along the river is them. Streets are not included either.

Something I should note: FWTA is a state of Texas agency, not a city of Fort Worth agency.

I don't think you're phrasing that right. It's an agency authorized by the State of Texas but serves its member cities. http://www.statutes..../htm/TN.451.htm

The city of Fort Worth doesn't own or operate the regional transit agency, so I wouldn't consider FWTA property to be "city" property.

 

That said, it is complicated. Perhaps a new category is in order.

Seaking of complicated, I am not sure what category Pinnacle Bank Place (and the land where Burnett Lofts will soon be) falls under, being a private-public partnership.

 

I'm also unsure of how to categorize charitable properties, which include the YWCA, YMCA, Bass Hall & McDavid Studio, and the Eddleman McFarland House.
