Work is under way on this project, as the athletic department employees that office within the arena have moved out to their temporary locations- mostly within the football stadium and the former Pond Street Grill (aka "The Greek").
If you haven't seen what the finished product will look like, here's a link to the project details.
Also, regarding the temporary home court for the teams in 2014-2015, there hasn't yet been an official announcement made. The word on the street, though, is that they'll play at least most of their homes games at The Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center, a FWISD-owned facility adjacent to TCC's Southeast Campus and Clark Stadium on I-20, about 8 miles from campus. Not sure what the capacity is at Wilkerson-Greines- one website says 1,200 but then someone on a subscription-based site said 5,000. SMU, for comparison sake, played some of their games during the Moody Coliseum renovation at the Garland ISD's Curtis Culwell Center, which seats 6,800 and is 15 miles from their campus.
You have to wonder if some of the higher-profile games, especially on the conference schedule, will be played elsewhere.
Best I could tell, TCU's last basketball game at the FW Convention Center was a win over Baylor in December of 2001, and I can't really recall any sports being played there since the Flyers folded and the Brahmas moved to North Richland Hills in 2007. The capacity there is listed at 11,200 and it is 4 miles from campus.
I have no memory of TCU (or any team) playing basketball at Will Rogers, and I wonder how well it would work for basketball. UTA's facility, while very nice, seems like a long-shot to me because of the distance.
