Ahhh it's good to have this site back.

I had the opportunity to shoot the E. Fay Jones Chapel tonight. Here are a few from the group. We are so lucky to have this quality of building in our city.

Yes, wonderful shots, all of them -- that place has been on my to-go-to list for awhile, I need to go!

UncaMikey, I was surprised to know how often they are open... The staff is extremely proud of the chapel and very knowledgeable of the building and the architect.

Does anyone watch True Blood on HBO? Last season they had a series of episodes that were supposed to be in Dallas, and there is a church on the show that looks exactly like Marty Leonard Chapel... Does anyone know if it was shot at Lena Pope or if there is another chapel in LA that is of the same design? I recognized it immediately when I saw it...

I think Fortworthology had an article on the Leonard Chapel and its evil twin in California. Apparently the Cali chapel was used to stand in for the Vulcan High Command Chambers on the latest Star Trek Movie. Apparently it looks a lot like FW's.

A quick search on www.fortworthology.com reveals that the doppelganger chapel is the Sky Rose Chapel, both designed by architect E. Fay Jones. No word on which Chapel your True Blood was filmed at.

IMDB doesn't indicate that True Blood filmed any scenes in Texas...

It may be possible that they made 'set' of chapel in the studio.By the way,I like the 'E. Fay Jones Chapel' for its original beauty and fabulous architectural design.I never went their but it's really a must-see place for everyone.

My first time to the Marty Leonard Chapel. Spectacular is the best word that comes to mind. And just perfect for a Wedding, for sure. Here are a few shots I took at a Wedding Saturday night. 4 pics, 2 of them just personal Wedding pics (No flashes allowed) that I am going to sneak in. I have shown engagement photos of this girl on this Forum. She is a 24 year old RN at a great Hospital. Lives in Arlington. Daughter of a friend. We used to babysit her. Got her nursing degree from UTA.

My wedding was the same day, same location, earlier time slot (2:30 pm on 10/30/10)! An incredible location for wedding photography for sure. My wife did some bridal photos there and at the Kimbell a few weeks before too- and they are incredible!

Just crazy.

I really don't know why I am just now finding out about this place. A total treasure. Have never seen a better Wedding location. I am now interested in the place and would like to know more about its history, costs etc... And it just so happens that Marty Leonard is a treasure herself. A total class act.

Was sure a beautiful day for a wedding also. On October 30 it could have been cold and rainy. (like Tuesday)

Congratulations on your Wedding. I got married 28 years ago and would not change a day of it. (Well, maybe that one day)

Check out the internet on E. Fay Jones, the architect of the Marty Leonard Chapel. It's quite a big deal that Fort Worth got a building designed by him. You'll find photos of some of his other chapels (many in Arkansas). All are incredible works of art. The wife and I are thinking of doing a road trip to Arkansas some weekend to see some of the others.

If you go on a weekend you might try to catch Thorncrown on a Saturday. http://www.thorncrown.com/services.htm One of my design studios at UTA took a trip to Hot Springs and on the way back we went through Eureka Springs and stopped by Thorncrown Chapel. They weren't very receptive to having a bunch of Architecture students there at that time. We weren't even allowed to walk around the exterior. That was a few years ago, hopefully they have changed their policies.

Hot Springs has some nice old bath houses too. Our design studio was doing a theoretical project there, so we went on a site visit. Just by coincidence, there was some sort of event that had many of the bathhouses open to the public. Some were in pretty sad shape once you got past the lobby (those were the only 'open' areas is many of the buildings). Interesting history and architecture.
