I'm starting to think that this as well as other projects around the city aren't really going to happen.

They went before the the design board 2 months ago this week and ads were running in the S-T less than 3 weeks ago (and still are for all I know). Why do you think it's dead?

Do you really have to ask why someone thinks a project that's even remotely major is dead?

I have heard that they weren't going to start construction until they had a certain percentage of units with commitments.  I don't know how rapidly it is filling up, but if it is going slow, it may be a couple more months before construction starts.

stayton is still practically empty and i don't think this will sell well. the left bank will have senior independent living units for rent and that will be quickly subscribed. it makes no sense if you're aging and you've come to terms with what all that means to tie up money and buy into a very expensive limited use condo.

It also doesn't make much sense for an eighty year old to push a lawnmower and have to drive everywhere for the most basic services. A lot of retirees also like to be able to "lock-and-leave" and go on a trip or a cruise without having to worry about their house. Many others take a "well I can't take it with me" attitude on the money they have or which has been invested in their house. Can't speak to why the Stayton hasn't been doing well or even if that is in fact the case, but everything I've heard about Trinity Terrace has been that is has been a phenomenal success.

Taking an uneducated guess here, could it be that a lot of seniors who lost their 401K savings during the Great Recession can't afford the high price of living at the Stayton?  Or the asking prices of the pending River Tower?  But, surely, there are many retirees from the high-class neighborhoods in Fort Worth who may be switching to assisted living facilities and like the luxury offered by the Stayton.

I don't know about the Stayton - though I see people coming & going from it all the time when I'm over at So7 - but yeah, everything I know about Trinity Terrace says it's been a big success over its history.

i think it's going to happen. their cash cow are the skilled beds (essentially hospital beds with nursing care) that are in short supply in high-end places. besides these are going to be rentals and not sold. the building looks beautiful

I cant wait because like I posted earlier on this page. A high rise development of any kind in this part of Downtown would help bring more business and growth to an area most don't even pay attention to.

Construction of an addition to the existing parking garage is scheduled to start next month, after that is complete, then there will be a partial demolition of the same garage in anticipation of construction of the tower.  The actual scheduled start of the construction of the tower is April 2015.  The estimated completion date of the tower is October 2016.

Projects like this require commitments from buyers and, more specifically, money. Delays would indicate that it's just not happening as quickly as previously predicted.

Actually, an April 2015 construction start date seems realistic if the parking garage expansion and partial demolition is to occur at the outset.  Doesn't sound like a delay caused by failure to line up prospective tenants.

Wasn't sure if anyone's seen the art renderings, so I checked the Trinity Terrace website.  They are advertising the floor plans.  Quite an impressing looking tower.

Completly invisible from the East, to far misplaced from the north and south. Tt's best angles will from the West/NW/SW angles.

I office in Museum Place, and it is going to almost perfectly overlay the Omni from my viewpoint.  Which is kind of a bummer.

According to FAA records the building has been requested as being 267 feet tall, and there was a permit filed for a 307 foot crane filed a month ago. 

 

BTW- I looked for other potential projects, the Jetta lot, Clearfork, leftbank, southside lots, etc but did'nt come across anything. There was a request for a 260 foot crane at Ridgemar mall though.

I've observed a large crane being used in construction of a building of lesser height for the reason (I'm guessing, not being an expert in these matters) of limited access on account of encroachments surrounding the site.  Of course limited access won't be a concern with the new Trinity Terrace tower on account of its height.  How does 267 feet compare with the nearby former Pier1 building?

Austin, at post #65 in this thread, I explained that they are going to build an addition to the existing parking garage, demolish part of the existing garage where the new tower is going, then construct the River Tower in that location.

I just updated the correct height in the topic title on the forum.  I also updated the height in the Fort Worth's Tallest Buildings list on the main site.  At 267 feet, the building will be the city's 12th tallest.

I didn't even notice the notes section. 

I went back and looked at the crane permit, and it has some dates listed, 06/01/2015  to  06/01/2016, so I guess we can expect to see some action by then... maybe...hopefully...

According to Councilwoman Ann Zadeh's Facebook Page, there was a ceremonial groundbreaking on Wednesday, December 10th.  This groundbreaking was inside, with a wheelbarrow full of dirt on a wood floor.  They used shovels to scoop the dirt out of the wheelbarrow.

At least this is one step forward.  Usually construction starts (or has already started) when the groundbreaking is held.  Having this event as "ceremonial" and being inside, and not actually picking up dirt outdoors on the construction site, makes this a little more insignificant.  I'm sure they will start construction and partial demolition of the parking garage soon.  I'm going to be at Historic Fort Worth next week, so if I see actual work taking place, I will let everyone know.

As noted above, the crane was ordered for June 1 of next year.  But the groundbreaking was last week.  This makes me somewhat confused here about the pace of construction, but I'm guessing the builder won't need the crane for a good while.

Site prep, site work, excavation, utilities, and many other things have to be done before a crane can be installed.  It seems to me that placement of the crane on June 1st is very close to the proper timeline if nothing at all has been done at the site until now.

I rode by there on my bike this morning and noticed that construction fencing has gone up adjacent to the parking garage and the site is being graded.  So this project is underway in earnest.  Second tallest building in the northwest quadrant of downtown.
